Hadith 10823
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that Allah Almighty granted the region of Khaybar to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) allowed the Jews to continue residing there as before, and divided the land there between the Jews and the Muslims. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Rawahah (may Allah be pleased with him) there; he went and estimated the yield of the orchards and said: O Jews! In my view, you are the most disliked creation of Allah; you killed the prophets of Allah and attributed lies to Allah Almighty, but despite such hatred, I will not be unjust or oppressive to you. Now, I have estimated the yield to be twenty thousand wasq of dates; if you wish, accept this decision for yourselves, and if you do not approve, then I will accept it. The Jews said: It is because of such justice that the heavens and the earth stand firm; we accept your estimation, you may stay apart from it.
Hadith 10824
It is narrated from Basheer bin Yasar that he found some of the Companions of the Messenger mentioning this incident: When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, conquered Khaybar and Khaybar became the property of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and the Muslims, while the Muslims were unable to manage all the work of that land, he entrusted it to the Jews so that they would fulfill its responsibilities and bear its expenses, and in return, they would receive half of its produce. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, divided it into thirty-six portions, each portion consisting of one hundred shares. From the share that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, received from the land of Khaybar, he would distribute half among the Muslims in such a way that there would be shares for the Muslims as well as a share for the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. The remaining half, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, would spend on delegations, other matters, and various incidents and needs of the people.
Hadith 10825
It is narrated from Muhammad bin Abi Mujalid, he says: The people sitting in the mosque sent me to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) to ask him what decision the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had made regarding the fruits of Khaybar. I went to him and asked him about this matter, and I also asked whether the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had set aside a fifth (khums) of it. He said: No, it was much less than that. Any one of us could take from it as needed whenever he wished.
