Hadith 10752
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in a battle. People think that this was the battle of Banu Mustaliq. During this, a Muhajir struck an Ansari on his back, so the Ansari cried out: "O Ansar! Come here!" and the Muhajir also called the Muhajirin for help. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) heard these words and said: "What are these calls of ignorance for?" It was told to him that one of the Muhajirin had struck an Ansari on his back, so the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Leave such things, these are foul, i.e., seditious and mischievous matters." Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) says: When the Muhajirin migrated to Madinah, their number was much less than the Ansar, but later the number of Muhajirin increased. When the matter between the Muhajirin and Ansar reached the chief of the hypocrites, Abdullah bin Ubayy, he said: "Have the Muhajirin gone so far now? By Allah! If we return to Madinah, the honorable ones will surely expel the lowly ones from Madinah." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) heard this, so he came to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! Give me permission, I will sever the neck of this hypocrite." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Umar! Leave him, lest people start saying that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) kills his own companions."
Hadith 10753
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zayd bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I went out with my uncle in a battle, and I heard Abdullah bin Ubayy bin Salul saying to his companions: Do not spend on the companions of this Messenger, and if we return to Madinah, the honorable ones will surely expel the lowly ones from it. I informed my uncle of this, and my uncle mentioned it to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent for me, and when I came to him, I told him what had been said. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent for Abdullah bin Ubayy bin Salul and his companions, so they came, but they swore that they had not said this. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) considered me a liar and Abdullah bin Ubayy truthful. This caused me great distress, more than I had ever experienced before. So I sat at home. My uncle said: What made you say such a thing? Now the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has considered you a liar and is displeased with you. Until Allah the Exalted revealed these verses: {إِذَا جَائَ کَ الْمُنَافِقُونَ … } … When the hypocrites come to you, … . Now the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent for me, recited these verses to me, and said: Surely Allah the Exalted has declared you truthful.
