بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي عِدَّتِ غَزَوَاتِهِ وَشَيْءٍ مِنْ آدَابِ الْعَزْمِ
Chapter: What has been reported regarding the number of his battles and some of the etiquettes of resolve
Hadith 10683
عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ غَزَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ غَزْوَةً
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Bara’ bin ‘Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) participated in fifteen battles.
Hadith 10684
وَمِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ ثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ غَزَوْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ غَزْوَةً وَأَنَا وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ لِدَةٌ
(Second chain) It is narrated from Sayyiduna Bara’ bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: We participated in fifteen battles with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) are of the same age.
Hadith 10685
عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ زَيْدَ بْنَ أَرْقَمَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ كَمْ غَزَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ تِسْعَ عَشْرَةَ وَغَزَوْتُ مَعَهُ سَبْعَ عَشْرَةَ وَسَبَقَنِي بِغَزَاتَيْنِ
It is narrated from Abu Ishaq, he says: I asked Sayyiduna Zaid bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him), how many expeditions did the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) undertake in total? He said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) undertook nineteen expeditions, and I participated with him in seventeen expeditions. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) preceded me in two expeditions (so I was not able to participate in them).
Hadith 10686
عَنْ جَابِرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ لَمْ يَكُنْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَغْزُو فِي الشَّهْرِ الْحَرَامِ إِلَّا أَنْ يُغْزَى أَوْ يُغْزَوْا فَإِذَا حَضَرَ ذَلِكَ أَقَامَ حَتَّى يَنْسَلِخَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would not engage in fighting during the sacred months, except in the case when the enemy attacked him. If such a situation arose, he (peace and blessings be upon him) would wait until the sacred month had passed.
عَنِ ابْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ غَزَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ سِتَّ عَشْرَةَ غَزْوَةً
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Buraidah that he participated in sixteen battles alongside the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.
Hadith 10686
عَنِ ابْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ غَزَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ سِتَّ عَشْرَةَ غَزْوَةً
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Buraidah that he participated in sixteen battles alongside the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.

Hadith 10687
عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا غَزَا قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ عَضُدِي وَأَنْتَ نَصِيرِي وَبِكَ أُقَاتِلُ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would fight the enemy, he would supplicate: "O Allah! You are my support and You are my helper, and by You I fight." (O Allah! You alone are my arm and my helper, and I fight the enemy relying only on You.)
