Hadith 10668
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Madinah Munawwarah, it was a land of severe epidemic. Then Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) fell ill, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) made this supplication: O Allah! Make Madinah Munawwarah as beloved to us as Makkah Mukarramah, or even more so, and make its climate healthy, and bless us in its Mudd and Sa’ (measures), and transfer its fever from here to the region of Juhfah.
Hadith 10669
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Madinah Munawwarah, some of the noble companions, including Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq, his servant Sayyiduna Amir bin Fuhairah, and Sayyiduna Bilal, fell ill. Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) sought permission from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to visit them for inquiry, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) granted her permission to go. When she asked Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), "How are you?" he expressed his distress by reciting this verse: "Every person is wished good morning among his family, while death is closer to him than the strap of his sandal." Then, when she inquired about the condition of Sayyiduna Amir bin Fuhairah (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: "I have already encountered death before its arrival; death always hovers over the head of a cowardly man." When the lady asked Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) about his condition, he said: "Would that I knew if I could spend even one night in the valley of Fajj (which is a valley in Makkah), where around me would be Idhkhir grass and Jalil grass." After visiting, when Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and informed him about what these gentlemen had said, he (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his gaze towards the sky and said: "O Allah! Bless for us the Sa’ and Mudd of Madinah Munawwarah, and transfer its epidemic to Mahya’ah, that is, to Hajfah."
Hadith 10670
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Madinah Munawwarah, it was a place afflicted with epidemic and the people were suffering from fever. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) fell ill. Whenever his fever intensified, he would say: "Every person wakes up among his family, while death is closer to him than the strap of his sandal." Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that when Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) suffered from severe fever, he would say: "If only I could know whether I will ever spend a single night in that valley, where around me would be the grasses called Idhkhir and Jalil, and whether I will ever reach the springs of Majannah, and whether the mountains called Shamah and Jalil will ever appear before me. O Allah! Curse Utbah bin Rabi’ah, Shaybah bin Rabi’ah, and Umayyah bin Khalaf, for they expelled us from Makkah Mukarramah." When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw the distress of these companions, he said: "O Allah! Make Madinah Munawwarah as beloved to us as Makkah Mukarramah, or even more so. And make its climate healthy for us, and bless its Sa’ and Mudd for us, and transfer its fever to Juhfah." Urwah says: The result of this supplication was that any child born in the region of Juhfah would not reach the age of maturity before being struck down by fever.
