Hadith 10654
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ لَمَّا قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَزَلَ فِي عُلُوِّ الْمَدِينَةِ فِي حَيٍّ يُقَالُ لَهُمْ بَنُو عَمْرِو بْنِ عَوْفٍ فَأَقَامَ فِيهِمْ أَرْبَعَ عَشْرَةَ لَيْلَةً ثُمَّ إِنَّهُ أَرْسَلَ إِلَى مَلَإٍ مِنْ بَنِي النَّجَّارِ قَالَ فَجَاءُوا مُتَقَلِّدِينَ سُيُوفَهُمْ قَالَ فَكَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ رِدْفُهُ وَمَلَأُ بَنِي النَّجَّارِ حَوْلَهُ حَتَّى أَلْقَى بِفِنَاءِ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ قَالَ فَكَانَ يُصَلِّي حَيْثُ أَدْرَكَتْهُ الصَّلَاةُ وَيُصَلِّي فِي مَرَابِضِ الْغَنَمِ ثُمَّ إِنَّهُ أَمَرَ بِالْمَسْجِدِ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَى مَلَإٍ مِنْ بَنِي النَّجَّارِ فَجَاءُوا فَقَالَ يَا بَنِي النَّجَّارِ ثَامِنُونِي حَائِطَكُمْ هَذَا فَقَالُوا وَاللَّهِ لَا نَطْلُبُ ثَمَنَهُ إِلَّا إِلَى اللَّهِ قَالَ وَكَانَ فِيهِ مَا أَقُولُ لَكُمْ كَانَتْ فِيهِ قُبُورُ الْمُشْرِكِينَ وَكَانَ فِيهِ حَرْثٌ وَكَانَ فِيهِ نَخْلٌ فَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِقُبُورِ الْمُشْرِكِينَ فَنُبِشَتْ وَبِالْحَرْثِ فَسُوِّيَتْ وَبِالنَّخْلِ فَقُطِعَ قَالَ فَصَفُّوا النَّخْلَ إِلَى قِبْلَةِ الْمَسْجِدِ وَجَعَلُوا عِضَادَتَيْهِ حِجَارَةً قَالَ وَجَعَلُوا يَنْقُلُونَ ذَلِكَ الصَّخْرَ وَهُمْ يَرْتَجِزُونَ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَعَهُمْ يَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ لَا خَيْرَ إِلَّا خَيْرُ الْآخِرَةِ فَانْصُرِ الْأَنْصَارَ وَالْمُهَاجِرَةْ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) migrated, he stayed for fourteen nights in the upper area of Madinah, in the tribe of Banu Amr bin Awf. Afterwards, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a message to the dignitaries of his maternal uncles, the tribe of Banu Najjar. They came adorned with weapons. Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: That scene is as if still before my eyes, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is mounted on his ride, and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) is behind him, and the group of dignitaries of Banu Najjar is forming a circle around him, until the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his belongings in front of the house of Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him). Since the mosque had not yet been built at that time, wherever the time for prayer would come, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would offer prayer there. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would also pray in the sheepfold. After that, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the construction of the mosque and summoned Banu Najjar. When they came, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Banu Najjar! Set a price for this piece of land of yours with me. But they replied: By Allah! We will take its compensation only from Allah. Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says that there were graves of polytheists in that piece of land, and some fields (and ruins) and some date-palm trees. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered regarding the graves of the polytheists that they be dug up, so they were dug up, and regarding the fields (or ruins), he ordered that they be demolished and leveled, and he ordered the date-palm trees to be cut down, and they were cut down. Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The trunks of the date-palms were set up in a row facing the qiblah to make a wall for the mosque, and stones were stacked for the walls on both sides. The noble Companions would carry these stones and recite this verse, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would also say these words with them: "O Allah! There is no good except the good of the Hereafter, so help the Ansar and the Muhajirin."
