It is narrated from Sayyiduna Salamah bin Akwa’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that he came to Madinah Munawwarah and met Sayyiduna Buraidah bin Husaib. He said: O Salamah! Have you abandoned your migration? He replied: I seek refuge with Allah! I have come with the permission of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: O Banu Aslam! Live in the villages, enjoy the scent of the winds, and dwell in the valleys. They said: O Messenger of Allah! We fear that this may harm our migration. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Now, wherever you are, you will remain migrants.

He said: Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik and Sayyiduna Salamah bin Akwa’ (may Allah be pleased with them). The man said: Salamah has returned from his migration. Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Do not say that, because I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: O Banu Aslam! You may live in the villages. They said: O Messenger of Allah! We fear that we might abandon our migration. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Now, wherever you are, you will remain migrants.

Farazdaq bin Hanan Qas says: Shall I narrate to you such a hadith, which I have heard with my own ears, my heart has memorized it, and I have not forgotten it till now? I and Abdullah bin Hida set out on the road to Syria and passed by Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both), ... ... (the rest of the hadith is mentioned), then he said: A harsh and bold Bedouin from your people came and said: O Messenger of Allah! Will migration (hijrah) be towards you wherever you may be, or will it be towards a specific land, or towards a specific people? And when you pass away, will migration be discontinued? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent for a while and then said: Where is the one who asked about migration? Here I am, O Messenger of Allah! He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When you establish prayer and pay zakat, then you are indeed a muhajir (emigrant), even if you die in Hadramaut. This is a place in the region of Yemen.

Narrated from Sayyiduna Zubair bin Al-Awwam (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: All lands belong to Allah Almighty, and all people are the servants of Allah Almighty. Therefore, wherever you find goodness, settle there.
Hadith 10650
Qulus says: Sayyiduna Shahab bin Madlij settled in a village. When his son insulted a man, that man replied: "O son of the father who invalidated the migration to Madinah and chose to reside in the villages!" Hearing this, Shahab came to Madinah and met Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), and heard him narrate this hadith: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The best of people are two men: one who strives in the path of Allah, until he reaches a place that causes harm to the enemy; and the other is a man who resides in a corner of a village, performs the five prayers, gives the due right of his wealth, and worships his Lord until he dies." Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Shahab (may Allah be pleased with him) sat on his knees and said: "O Abu Hurairah! Did you hear this hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" He replied: "Yes." So he returned to his village and settled there.
