Hadith 10616
عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ اشْتَرَى أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ مِنْ عَازِبٍ سَرْجًا بِثَلَاثَةَ عَشَرَ دِرْهَمًا قَالَ فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ لِعَازِبٍ مُرِ الْبَرَاءَ فَلْيَحْمِلْهُ إِلَى مَنْزِلِي فَقَالَ لَا حَتَّى تُحَدِّثَنَا كَيْفَ صَنَعْتَ حِينَ خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنْتَ مَعَهُ قَالَ فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ خَرَجْنَا فَأَدْلَجْنَا فَأَحْثَثْنَا يَوْمَنَا وَلَيْلَتَنَا حَتَّى أَظْهَرْنَا وَقَامَ قَائِمُ الظَّهِيرَةِ فَضَرَبْتُ بِبَصَرِي هَلْ أَرَى ظِلًّا نَأْوِي إِلَيْهِ فَإِذَا أَنَا بِصَخْرَةٍ فَأَهْوَيْتُ إِلَيْهَا فَإِذَا بَقِيَّةُ ظِلِّهَا فَسَوَّيْتُهُ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَفَرَشْتُ لَهُ فَرْوَةً وَقُلْتُ اضْطَجِعْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَاضْطَجَعَ ثُمَّ خَرَجْتُ أَنْظُرُ هَلْ أَرَى أَحَدًا مِنَ الطَّلَبِ فَإِذَا أَنَا بِرَاعِي غَنَمٍ فَقُلْتُ لِمَنْ أَنْتَ يَا غُلَامُ فَقَالَ لِرَجُلٍ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ فَسَمَّاهُ فَعَرَفْتُهُ فَقُلْتُ هَلْ فِي غَنَمِكَ مِنْ لَبَنٍ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ قُلْتُ هَلْ أَنْتَ حَالِبٌ لِي قَالَ نَعَمْ فَأَمَرْتُهُ فَاعْتَقَلَ شَاةً مِنْهَا ثُمَّ أَمَرْتُهُ فَنَفَضَ ضَرْعَهَا مِنَ الْغُبَارِ ثُمَّ أَمَرْتُهُ فَنَفَضَ كَفَّيْهِ مِنَ الْغُبَارِ وَمَعِيَ إِدَاوَةٌ عَلَى فَمِهَا خِرْقَةٌ فَحَلَبَ لِي كُثْبَةً مِنَ اللَّبَنِ فَصَبَبْتُ يَعْنِي الْمَاءَ عَلَى الْقَدَحِ حَتَّى بَرَدَ أَسْفَلُهُ ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَوَافَيْتُهُ وَقَدِ اسْتَيْقَظَ فَقُلْتُ اشْرَبْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَشَرِبَ حَتَّى رَضِيتُ ثُمَّ قُلْتُ أَنَى الرَّحِيلُ قَالَ فَارْتَحَلْنَا وَالْقَوْمُ يَطْلُبُونَا فَلَمْ يُدْرِكْنَا أَحَدٌ مِنْهُمْ إِلَّا سُرَاقَةُ بْنُ مَالِكِ بْنِ جُعْشُمٍ عَلَى فَرَسٍ لَهُ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ هَذَا الطَّلَبُ قَدْ لَحِقَنَا فَقَالَ لَا تَحْزَنْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَنَا حَتَّى إِذَا دَنَا مِنَّا فَكَانَ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَهُ قَدْرُ رُمْحٍ أَوْ رُمْحَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثَةٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ هَذَا الطَّلَبُ قَدْ لَحِقَنَا وَبَكَيْتُ قَالَ لِمَ تَبْكِي قَالَ قُلْتُ أَمَا وَاللَّهِ مَا عَلَى نَفْسِي أَبْكِي وَلَكِنْ أَبْكِي عَلَيْكَ قَالَ فَدَعَا عَلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنَاهُ بِمَا شِئْتَ فَسَاخَتْ قَوَائِمُ فَرَسِهِ إِلَى بَطْنِهَا فِي أَرْضٍ صَلْدٍ وَوَثَبَ عَنْهَا وَقَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ قَدْ عَلِمْتُ أَنَّ هَذَا عَمَلُكَ فَادْعُ اللَّهَ أَنْ يُنْجِيَنِي مِمَّا أَنَا فِيهِ فَوَاللَّهِ لَأُعَمِّيَنَّ عَلَى مَنْ وَرَائِي مِنَ الطَّلَبِ وَهَذِهِ كِنَانَتِي فَخُذْ مِنْهَا سَهْمًا فَإِنَّكَ سَتَمُرُّ بِإِبِلِي وَغَنَمِي فِي مَوْضِعِ كَذَا وَكَذَا فَخُذْ مِنْهَا حَاجَتَكَ قَالَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا حَاجَةَ لِي فِيهَا قَالَ وَدَعَا لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأُطْلِقَ فَرَجَعَ إِلَى أَصْحَابِهِ وَمَضَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنَا مَعَهُ حَتَّى قَدِمْنَا الْمَدِينَةَ فَتَلَقَّاهُ النَّاسُ فَخَرَجُوا فِي الطَّرِيقِ وَعَلَى الْأَجَاجِيرِ فَاشْتَدَّ الْخَدَمُ وَالصِّبْيَانُ فِي الطَّرِيقِ يَقُولُونَ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ جَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَاءَ مُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ وَتَنَازَعَ الْقَوْمُ أَيُّهُمْ يَنْزِلُ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْزِلُ اللَّيْلَةَ عَلَى بَنِي النَّجَّارِ أَخْوَالِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ لِأُكْرِمَهُمْ بِذَلِكَ فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَ غَدَا حَيْثُ أُمِرَ قَالَ الْبَرَاءُ بْنُ عَازِبٍ أَوَّلُ مَنْ كَانَ قَدِمَ عَلَيْنَا مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ مُصْعَبُ بْنُ عُمَيْرٍ أَخُو بَنِي عَبْدِ الدَّارِ ثُمَّ قَدِمَ عَلَيْنَا ابْنُ آمِّ مَكْتُومٍ الْأَعْمَى أَخُو بَنِي فِهْرٍ ثُمَّ قَدِمَ عَلَيْنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فِي عِشْرِينَ رَاكِبًا فَقُلْنَا مَا فَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ هُوَ عَلَى أَثَرِي ثُمَّ قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ مَعَهُ قَالَ الْبَرَاءُ وَلَمْ يَقْدَمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى قَرَأْتُ سُوَرًا مِنَ الْمُفَصَّلِ قَالَ إِسْرَائِيلُ وَكَانَ الْبَرَاءُ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ مِنْ بَنِي حَارِثَةَ
Narrated from Sayyiduna Bara’ bin ‘Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) bought a saddle from my father, Sayyiduna ‘Azib, for thirteen dirhams. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said to my father: Tell Bara’ to take it to my house. He said: No, not until you tell me what you did at the time when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) left Makkah and you were with him? Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We left (the cave) and walked during the first part of the night. We walked quickly that night and day until it was midday. I looked far and wide to see if there was any shaded place where we could rest. Suddenly, I saw a rock. I went towards it and leveled the remaining shade for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), spread a leather sheet over it, and said: O Messenger of Allah! Lie down. So he lay down, and I went out to see if any pursuer had reached us. Suddenly, I saw a shepherd with his sheep. I asked him: O boy! Whose shepherd are you? He said: So-and-so Qurayshi’s. He mentioned his name, and I recognized him. Then I said: Do your sheep have milk? He said: Yes. I said: Will you milk for me? He said: Yes. So I ordered him, and he tied the legs of the sheep. Then I ordered him to clean the dust from the udders, and then I ordered him to clean the dust from his hands as well. I had a vessel with a piece of cloth over its mouth. So he milked a small amount of milk for me. Then I poured water over the bowl until its bottom became cool. Then I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and found him awake. I said: O Messenger of Allah! Drink the milk. So he drank until I was pleased. Then I said: It is time to depart. So we set out from there. Meanwhile, people searched for us, but only Suraqah bin Malik bin Ju’sham reached us. He was riding a horse. When I saw him, I said: O Messenger of Allah! The pursuer has reached us. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not worry, indeed Allah is with us. When he came so close to us that he was at a distance of one, two, or three spears, I said: O Messenger of Allah! The pursuer has reached us, and I began to weep. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Why are you crying? I said: By Allah! I am not crying for myself, but for you. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated against him, saying: O Allah! Protect us from him with whatever You will. So the legs of his horse sank into the hard ground up to its belly, and he jumped off and moved away from it. He said: O Muhammad! I know this is your doing. Now pray to Allah to save me from this calamity. By Allah, I will make those who are searching behind me blind to you. Here is my quiver; take an arrow from it, for you will soon pass by such-and-such a place where my camels and sheep are. (Show this arrow to my shepherd) and take whatever you need from there. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I have no need of them. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed for him, so he was freed, then he returned to his companions, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) continued on, while I (Abu Bakr) was with him until we reached Madinah. The people met the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and people were on the roads and rooftops, and servants and children crowded the way, saying: Allahu Akbar! The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has come! Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) has arrived! Now people began to differ as to whose house the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would stay in. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Tonight I will stay with the maternal uncles of ‘Abdul Muttalib, the Banu Najjar. I want to honor them with this. When morning came, he set out as he was commanded. Sayyiduna Bara’ bin ‘Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The first of the Muhajirun to come to us were Sayyiduna Mus’ab bin ‘Umair (may Allah be pleased with him), the brother of Banu ‘Abd al-Dar. After him came Sayyiduna Ibn Umm Maktum (may Allah be pleased with him), the brother of Banu Fihr. Then Sayyiduna ‘Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) came with twenty men. We said to them: What is the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) doing? They said: He is coming behind me. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived, and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) was with him. Sayyiduna Bara’ (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had not yet entered Madinah when I had already learned some of the long Surahs. Isra’il, the narrator, said: Sayyiduna Bara’ (may Allah be pleased with him) was among the Ansar of Banu Harithah.
Hadith 10617
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ وَأَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَالِكٍ الْمُدْلَجِيُّ وَهُوَ ابْنُ أَخِي سُرَاقَةَ بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ جُعْشُمٍ أَنَّ أَبَاهُ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ سُرَاقَةَ يَقُولُ جَاءَنَا رُسُلُ كُفَّارِ قُرَيْشٍ يَجْعَلُونَ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَفِي أَبِي بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ دِيَّةَ كُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا لِمَنْ قَتَلَهُمَا أَوْ أَسَرَهُمَا فَبَيْنَا أَنَا جَالِسٌ فِي مَجْلِسٍ مِنْ مَجَالِسِ قَوْمِي بَنِي مُدْلِجٍ أَقْبَلَ رَجُلٌ مِنْهُمْ حَتَّى قَامَ عَلَيْنَا فَقَالَ يَا سُرَاقَةُ إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ آنِفًا أَسْوِدَةً بِالسَّاحِلِ إِنِّي أَرَاهَا مُحَمَّدًا وَأَصْحَابَهُ قَالَ سُرَاقَةُ فَعَرَفْتُ أَنَّهُمْ هُمْ فَقُلْتُ إِنَّهُمْ لَيْسُوا بِهِمْ وَلَكِنْ رَأَيْتَ فُلَانًا وَفُلَانًا انْطَلَقَا آنِفًا قَالَ ثُمَّ لَبِثْتُ فِي الْمَجْلِسِ سَاعَةً حَتَّى قُمْتُ فَدَخَلْتُ بَيْتِي فَأَمَرْتُ جَارِيَتِي أَنْ تُخْرِجَ لِي فَرَسِي وَهِيَ مِنْ وَرَاءِ أَكَمَةٍ فَتَحْبِسَهَا عَلَيَّ وَأَخَذْتُ رُمْحِي فَخَرَجْتُ بِهِ مِنْ ظَهْرِ الْبَيْتِ فَخَطَطْتُ بِرُمْحِي الْأَرْضَ وَخَفَضْتُ عَالِيَةَ الرُّمْحِ حَتَّى أَتَيْتُ فَرَسِي فَرَكِبْتُهَا فَرَفَعْتُهَا تَقَرَّبُ بِي حَتَّى رَأَيْتُ أَسْوِدَتَهُمَا فَلَمَّا دَنَوْتُ مِنْهُمْ حَيْثُ يَسْمَعُهُمُ الصَّوْتُ عَثَرَتْ بِي فَرَسِي فَخَرَرْتُ عَنْهَا فَقُمْتُ فَأَهْوَيْتُ بِيَدَيَّ إِلَى كِنَانَتِي فَاسْتَخْرَجْتُ مِنْهَا الْأَزْلَامَ فَاسْتَقْسَمْتُ بِهَا أَضُرُّهُمْ أَمْ لَا فَخَرَجَ الَّذِي أَكْرَهُ أَنْ لَا أَضُرَّهُمْ فَرَكِبْتُ فَرَسِي وَعَصَيْتُ الْأَزْلَامَ فَرَفَعْتُهَا تَقَرَّبُ بِي إِذَا دَنَوْتُ مِنْهُمْ عَثَرَتْ بِي فَرَسِي فَخَرَرْتُ عَنْهَا فَقُمْتُ فَأَهْوَيْتُ بِيَدَيَّ إِلَى كِنَانَتِي فَأَخْرَجْتُ الْأَزْلَامَ فَاسْتَقْسَمْتُ بِهَا فَخَرَجَ الَّذِي أَكْرَهُ أَنْ لَا أَضُرَّهُمْ فَعَصَيْتُ الْأَزْلَامَ وَرَكِبْتُ فَرَسِي فَرَفَعْتُهَا تَقَرَّبُ بِي حَتَّى إِذَا سَمِعْتُ قِرَاءَةَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ لَا يَلْتَفِتُ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ يُكْثِرُ الْالْتِفَاتَ سَاخَتْ يَدَا فَرَسِي فِي الْأَرْضِ حَتَّى بَلَغَتِ الرُّكْبَتَيْنِ فَخَرَرْتُ عَنْهَا فَزَجَرْتُهَا فَنَهَضَتْ فَلَمْ تَكَدْ تُخْرِجُ يَدَيْهَا فَلَمَّا اسْتَوَتْ قَائِمَةً إِذْ لَا أَثَرَ بِهَا عُثَانٌ سَاطِعٌ فِي السَّمَاءِ مِثْلُ الدُّخَانِ قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَلَاءِ مَا الْعُثَانُ فَسَكَتَ سَاعَةً ثُمَّ قَالَ هُوَ الدُّخَانُ مِنْ غَيْرِ نَارٍ قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ فِي حَدِيثِهِ فَاسْتَقْسَمْتُ بِالْأَزْلَامِ فَخَرَجَ الَّذِي أَكْرَهُ أَنْ لَا أَضُرَّهُمْ فَنَادَيْتُهُمَا بِالْأَمَانِ فَوَقَفُوا فَرَكِبْتُ فَرَسِي حَتَّى جِئْتُهُمْ فَوَقَعَ فِي نَفْسِي حِينَ لَقِيتُ مَا لَقِيتُ مِنَ الْحَبْسِ عَنْهُمْ أَنَّهُ سَيَظْهَرُ أَمْرُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ إِنَّ قَوْمَكَ قَدْ جَعَلُوا فِيكَ الدِّيَّةَ وَأَخْبَرْتُهُمْ مِنْ أَخْبَارِ سَفَرِهِمْ وَمَا يُرِيدُ النَّاسُ بِهِمْ وَعَرَضْتُ عَلَيْهِمُ الزَّادَ وَالْمَتَاعَ فَلَمْ يَرْزَؤُونِي شَيْئًا وَلَمْ يَسْأَلُونِي إِلَّا أَنْ أَخْفِ عَنَّا فَسَأَلْتُهُ أَنْ يَكْتُبَ لِي كِتَابَ مُوَادَعَةٍ آمَنُ بِهِ فَأَمَرَ عَامِرَ بْنَ فُهَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَكَتَبَ لِي فِي رُقْعَةٍ مِنْ أَدِيمٍ ثُمَّ مَضَى
It is narrated from Suraqah bin Malik, he says: (When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and Abu Bakr Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him, set out after migrating,) the envoys of the disbelievers came to us and informed us about the blood money (one hundred camels) for each of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, that whoever kills or captures them will receive this blood money. I was sitting in the assembly of my tribe Banu Mudlij when a man came and stood before us and said: O Suraqah! I have just seen some people near the coast; I think they are Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and his companions. Suraqah said: I recognized that it was them, but I outwardly pretended that these people were not them. I said: You have seen so-and-so, they were passing by a little while ago. I remained sitting in that assembly for a while, then I got up from there, entered my house, and ordered my slave girl to bring out my horse; it was behind a hill, and to keep it restrained until I arrived. Meanwhile, I took out my spear and left from the back of the house. I drew a line on the ground with my spear and turned its shiny side towards the ground (so that anyone watching from afar would not notice by its shine). Then I mounted my horse and made it run until I began to see those figures. When I got so close to them that my voice could reach them, my horse slipped and I fell down. I put my hand into my quiver, took out an arrow, and tried my luck to see if I could harm them or not. The arrow that came out was the one I disliked, meaning I would not be able to harm them. But I mounted my horse again and disobeyed the arrows. I made the horse run again. When I got close to them, my horse slipped again and I fell down. I stood up, put my hand into my quiver, took out an arrow, and tried my luck again. Again, the same arrow came out, the one I disliked, that I would not be able to harm them. But again, I disobeyed the arrows, mounted my horse, made it run, and got so close to them that I began to hear the recitation of the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, did not pay any attention to me, but Abu Bakr kept looking at me again and again. When I got close to them, the front legs of my horse sank into the ground, up to its knees. I fell again and scolded the horse, so it stood up, but it seemed as if it could not pull out its legs. When it stood up, there was no effect on it, but there was smoke rising into the sky like the smoke of fire, without any fire. I asked Abu Amr: What is meant by ‘Uthān’? After remaining silent for a while, he said: It means smoke without fire. Imam Zuhri said in his narration: Suraqah said: When I tried my luck with the arrows, the arrow that came out was the one I disliked, meaning I would not be able to harm them. So I called out to them with a guarantee of safety, and they stopped. I mounted my horse and reached them. The way I was forced to stop made me realize that soon the matter of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, would prevail. I said to him, peace and blessings be upon him: Indeed, your people have set a blood money for you. Then I told them all the events of the journey and also informed them what people wanted regarding them. Then I offered them provisions and supplies, but they did not take anything from me nor did they ask me for anything. They only said that I should keep their matter hidden. Then I requested them to write me a message of reconciliation through which I would be granted safety. So the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, ordered Sayyiduna ‘Amir bin Fuhayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, to write this guarantee for me on a piece of leather. Then the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, moved on.
Hadith 10618
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ أَقْبَلَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ وَهُوَ مُرْدِفٌ أَبَا بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ شَيْخٌ يُعْرَفُ وَنَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَابٌّ لَا يُعْرَفُ قَالَ فَيَلْقَى الرَّجُلُ أَبَا بَكْرٍ فَيَقُولُ يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ مَنْ هَذَا الرَّجُلُ الَّذِي بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ فَيَقُولُ هَذَا الرَّجُلُ يَهْدِينِي إِلَى السَّبِيلِ فَيَحْسَبُ الْحَاسِبُ أَنَّهُ أَنَّمَا يَهْدِيهِ إِلَى الطَّرِيقِ وَإِنَّمَا يَعْنِي سَبِيلَ الْخَيْرِ فَالْتَفَتَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَإِذَا هُوَ بِفَارِسٍ قَدْ لَحِقَهُمْ فَقَالَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ هَذَا فَارِسٌ قَدْ لَحِقَ بِنَا قَالَ فَالْتَفَتَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ اللَّهُمَّ اصْرَعْهُ فَصَرَعَتْهُ فَرَسُهُ ثُمَّ قَامَتْ تُحَمْحِمُ قَالَ ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ مُرْنِي بِمَا شِئْتَ قَالَ قِفْ مَكَانَكَ لَا تَتْرُكَنَّ أَحَدًا يَلْحَقُ بِنَا قَالَ فَكَانَ أَوَّلُ النَّهَارِ جَاهِدًا عَلَى نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ وَكَانَ آخِرَ النَّهَارِ مَسْلَحَةً لَهُ قَالَ فَنَزَلَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ جَانِبَ الْحَرَّةِ ثُمَّ بَعَثَ إِلَى الْأَنْصَارِ فَجَاءُوا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَسَلَّمُوا عَلَيْهِمَا وَقَالُوا ارْكَبَا آمِنَيْنِ مُطْمَئِنَّيْنِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, set out towards Madinah Munawwarah. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, was riding behind him. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr was elderly and could be recognized, whereas the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, appeared young and was not recognized. Therefore, people would meet Sayyiduna Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, and ask: Who is this man sitting in front of you? He would reply: He is a man guiding me on the way. The questioner would think that he was showing him the road, whereas Sayyiduna Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, meant the way of goodness and virtue. When Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, turned around, he saw that a horseman had reached them. Then he said: O Prophet of Allah! A horseman has caught up with us. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, turned towards him and said: O Allah! Make him fall. So his horse threw him down. Then the horse stood up and neighed. The horseman said: O Prophet of Allah! Command me as you wish. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Stand here and do not let anyone reach us. This person, at the beginning of the day, was one who intended to fight you, but by the end of the day, he became one who defended you. Thus, the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, stopped at one side of Harrah and sent for the Ansar. They came to him, greeted both personalities, and then said: Ride with peace and tranquility.
