Hadith 10610
Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) explained this verse {وَاِذْ یَمْکُرُ بِکَ الَّذِیْنَ کَفَرُوْا لِیُثْبِتُوْکَ} by saying: The Quraysh consulted among themselves one night in Makkah regarding you (the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him). Some said: When morning comes, shackle him (Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him) in chains. Some said: No, rather kill him. Some said: Rather, expel him. Meanwhile, Allah Almighty informed His Prophet of these matters. So Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) spent that night on the bed of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) left from there and took refuge in the Cave of Thawr. The polytheists spent the night guarding Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), thinking they were guarding the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When morning came, they rushed in, but they saw that it was Ali. In this way, Allah Almighty thwarted their plot. They said: Ali! Where is your companion? He said: I do not know. So they set out searching for the footprints of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When they reached that mountain, the matter became unclear to them. So they climbed the mountain and passed by the Cave of Thawr, but when they saw a spider’s web at its entrance, they said: If he (Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him) had entered this cave, this spider’s web would not be here. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained in that cave for three days.

Hadith 10611
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) wore the clothes of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and slept in his place. The polytheists used to throw stones at the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Meanwhile, when Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) came and Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) was sleeping, while they thought he was the Messenger of Allah, so they said: "O Messenger of Allah!" Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has gone towards the well of Maymoon, you should go and join him." Thus, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) set off in that direction and entered the cave with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Just as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to be pelted with stones, in the same way, Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) began to be pelted with stones, but he writhed in pain, and he had wrapped a cloth around his head. He did not take his head out until morning came. Then, when he removed the cloth from his head, the polytheists said: "Indeed, you are of a low rank. When we used to strike your companion, he would not writhe, but you writhe. We had already denied this matter (meaning, we had realized that the one sleeping here is not Muhammad)."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was in Makkah Mukarramah, then he was commanded to migrate, and this verse was revealed to him: And pray, “O my Lord! Make my entry good and make my exit good and grant me from Yourself a supporting authority.” (: Surah Bani Isra’il: 80)
