It is narrated from Sayyida Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with her) that the wife of the Messenger, Sayyida Umm Habiba (may Allah be pleased with her), came and said: O Messenger of Allah! Do you have an inclination towards my sister? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: What should I do with her? She said: You should marry her. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do you wish for this? She said: Yes, after all, I am not the only one, and my sister is most deserving to share in this goodness with me. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: She is not lawful for me. She said: By Allah! I have heard that you sent a proposal to Durrah bint Umm Salama. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If she were lawful for me, even then I would not have married her, because both she and I were breastfed by Thuwaibah, the slave woman of Banu Hashim. Therefore, do not present your sisters and daughters to me.
