Hadith 10450
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said from the pulpit: The truest verse of poetry ever spoken by the Arabs is: "Ala kullu shay'in ma khala Allah batil" (Be aware! Everything besides Allah Almighty is falsehood), and it was near that Umayyah bin Abi Salt would have become Muslim.
Hadith 10451
Sayyiduna Shuraid narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, asked him to recite the poetry of Umayyah bin Abi Salt. So I recited one hundred couplets. Whenever I recited any of his poetry to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, he would say: "Recite more, recite more." Until when I finished one hundred couplets, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "It was close that Umayyah would have become a Muslim."
