بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي صِفَتِهِ وَ شَمَائِلِهِ وَ نُزُولِهِ آخِرَ الزَّمَان وَحُكْمِهِ وَ مُدَّةٍ مَكْثِهِ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَحَجُهِ وَ فَنَاءِ كُلِّ مِلَّةِ غَيْرِ الْإِسْلامِ وَ وَفَاتِهِ
Chapter: What has been reported regarding his description, characteristics, his descent at the end of time, his rule, the length of his stay on earth, his pilgrimage, the extinction of every religion except Islam, and his death
Hadith 10418
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ ((الْأَنْبِيَاءُ إِخْوَةٌ لِعَلَّاتٍ أُمَّهَاتُهُمْ شَتَّى وَدِينُهُمْ وَاحِدٌ وَأَنَا أَوْلَى النَّاسِ بِعِيسَى بْنِ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ لِأَنَّهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ نَبِيٌّ وَإِنَّهُ نَازِلٌ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمُوهُ فَاعْرِفُوهُ رَجُلًا مَرْبُوعًا إِلَى الْحُمْرَةِ وَالْبَيَاضِ عَلَيْهِ ثَوْبَانِ مُمَصَّرَانِ كَأَنَّ رَأْسَهُ يَقْطُرُ وَإِنْ لَمْ يُصِبْهُ بَلَلٌ فَيَدُقُّ الصَّلِيبَ وَيَقْتُلُ الْخِنْزِيرَ وَيَضَعُ الْجِزْيَةَ وَيَدْعُو النَّاسَ إِلَى الْإِسْلَامِ فَيُهْلِكُ اللَّهُ فِي زَمَنِهِ الْمِلَلَ كُلَّهَا إِلَّا الْإِسْلَامَ وَيُهْلِكُ اللَّهُ فِي زَمَانِهِ الْمَسِيحَ الدَّجَّالَ وَتَقَعُ الْأَمَنَةُ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ حَتَّى تَرْتَعَ الْأَسْوَدُ مَعَ الْإِبِلِ وَالنِّمَارُ مَعَ الْبَقَرِ وَالذِّئَابُ مَعَ الْغَنَمِ وَيَلْعَبَ الصِّبْيَانُ بِالْحَيَّاتِ لَا تَضُرُّهُمْ فَيَمْكُثُ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً ثُمَّ يُتَوَفَّى وَيُصَلِّي عَلَيْهِ الْمُسْلِمُونَ)) وَزَادَ فِي رِوَايَةٍ ((وَيُدَفِّنُونَهُ))
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The noble Prophets are paternal brothers; their mothers are different but their religion is one. I am the closest to ‘Isa ibn Maryam (peace be upon him) in this world and the Hereafter. There is no prophet between me and him. Indeed, he is about to descend, so recognize him. He is a man of moderate height, his complexion is reddish-white, he will be wearing two light yellow garments, it will seem as if water is dripping from his head though it will not be wet (meaning he will appear extremely clean and radiant). He will break the cross, kill the swine, abolish the jizya, and invite people to Islam. So, in his time, Allah Almighty will abolish all religions except Islam. Allah will destroy the false messiah (al-Masih ad-Dajjal) during his era. There will be such peace and security on earth that snakes will graze with camels, leopards with cows, and wolves with sheep. Children will play with snakes and they will not harm them. ‘Isa (peace be upon him) will remain on earth for forty years, then he will pass away, and the Muslims will perform his funeral prayer and bury him.
Hadith 10419
(وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ) يَبْلُغُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ((يُوشِكُ أَنْ يَنْزِلَ فِيكُمُ ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ حَكَمًا مُقْسِطًا)) وَفِي لَفْظٍ ((حَكَمًا عَادِلًا وَإِمَامًا مُقْسِطًا)) ((يَكْسِرُ الصَّلِيبَ وَيَقْتُلُ الْخِنْزِيرَ وَيَضَعُ الْجِزْيَةَ وَيَفِيضُ الْمَالُ حَتَّى لَا يَقْبَلَهُ أَحَدٌ))
(Second chain) The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "It is near that Isa ibn Maryam, peace be upon him, will descend among you as a just judge. He will break the cross, kill the swine, abolish the jizya, and wealth will become so abundant that no one will accept it." The books of hadith contain ample details regarding the descent of Isa, peace be upon him, the time of his descent, and the characteristics of his era.
Hadith 10420
عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ حَنْظَلَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ((يَنْزِلُ عِيسَى بْنُ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ فَيَقْتُلُ الْخِنْزِيرَ وَيَمْحُو الصَّلِيبَ وَتُجْمَعُ لَهُ الصَّلَاةُ وَيُعْطِي الْمَالَ حَتَّى لَا يُقْبَلَ وَيَضَعُ الْخَرَاجَ وَيَنْزِلُ الرَّوْحَاءَ فَيَحُجُّ مِنْهَا أَوْ يَعْتَمِرُ أَوْ يَجْمَعُهُمَا)) قَالَ وَتَلَا أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ {وَإِنْ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ إِلَّا لَيُؤْمِنَنَّ بِهِ قَبْلَ مَوْتِهِ وَيَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يَكُونُ عَلَيْهِمْ شَهِيدًا} فَزَعَمَ حَنْظَلَةُ أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ يُؤْمِنُ بِهِ قَبْلَ مَوْتِ عِيسَى فَلَا أَدْرِي هَذَا كُلُّهُ حَدِيثُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَوْ شَيْءٌ قَالَهُ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ
Syedna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Isa ibn Maryam, peace be upon him, will descend, will kill the swine, will abolish the cross, congregational prayer will be established, he will give so much wealth to the people that no one will accept it from anyone, he will abolish the jizya, and Isa, peace be upon him, will descend at Ruhā and from there will perform Hajj or Umrah or both. Then Syedna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, recited these verses: And there is none of the People of the Book but will believe in him before his death. And on the Day of Resurrection, he will be a witness against them.
Hadith 10421
(وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ) عَنْ حَنْظَلَةَ الْأَسْلَمِيِّ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ لَيُهِلَّنَّ ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ بِفَجِّ الرَّوْحَاءِ حَاجًّا أَوْ مُعْتَمِرًا أَوْ لَيُثَنِّيَنَّهُمَا
(Second chain) Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: By Him in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)! The son of Mary will surely proclaim the Talbiyah on the route of Rauha’, coming for Hajj or ‘Umrah or both.
