بيان قصص أنبياء الله عليهم السلامExplanation of the Stories of the Prophets of Allah, Peace Be Upon Them
أَبْوَابُ ذِكْرِ أَنْبِيَاءِ اللَّهِ زَكَرِيَّا وَيَحْيَ وَعِيْسَى وَ أُمِّهِ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّلَامُ
Chapters: Mention of the Prophets of Allah Zakariya, Yahya, Isa, and his mother Maryam, peace be upon them
Hadith 10407
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ((كَانَ زَكَرِيَّا عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ نَجَّارًا))
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Zakariya (peace be upon him) was a carpenter.
Hadith 10408
عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ ((مَا مِنْ أَحَدٍ مِنْ وُلْدِ آدَمَ إِلَّا قَدْ أَخْطَأَ أَوْ هَمَّ بِخَطِيئَةٍ لَيْسَ يَحْيَى بْنَ زَكَرِيَّا عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ وَمَا يَنْبَغِي لِأَحَدٍ أَنْ يَقُولَ أَنَا خَيْرٌ مِنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ مَتَّى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: There is no one among the children of Adam except that he has committed a mistake, or intended to commit a mistake, except Yahya bin Zakariya (peace be upon him), and it is not permissible for anyone to say: I am better than Yunus bin Matta (peace be upon him).
