Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Recitation was made easy for Dawud (peace be upon him); he would order for his mount to be saddled, and before this task was completed, he would finish the recitation of the Zabur, and he would eat only from what he earned with his own hands.

It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) heard Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) reciting (the Qur'an), and then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Abu Musa has indeed been given the flutes of the family of Dawud."

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) heard Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Qais (may Allah be pleased with him) reciting and said: He has been given the flutes of the family of Dawud. In another narration: Abu Musa has been given the flutes of Dawud (peace be upon him).
