بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي عَدَدِ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ وَالرُّسُلِ وَأَمُورٍ تتعلق بهم
Chapter: What has been reported regarding the number of prophets and messengers and matters related to them
Hadith 10317
عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ الْبَاهْلِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو ذَرٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَمْ وَفَّى عِدَّةُ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ قَالَ ((مِائَةُ أَلْفٍ وَأَرْبَعَةٌ وَعِشْرُونَ أَلْفًا الرُّسُلُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ ثَلَاثُ مِائَةٍ وَخَمْسَةَ عَشَرَ جَمًّا غَفِيرًا)) وَفِي لَفْظٍ ثَلَاثُ مِائَةٍ وَبِضْعَةَ عَشَرَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: O Messenger of Allah! How many were the Prophets? He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: One hundred and twenty-four thousand; among them, three hundred and fifteen were Messengers, a large multitude. In another narration, it is stated: Among them, there were three hundred and fourteen or fifteen Messengers.
Hadith 10318
عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ((لَا تُخَيِّرُوا بَيْنَ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ))
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not give superiority to one prophet over another.
Hadith 10319
عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ((لَمْ يَبْعَثِ اللَّهُ نَبِيًّا إِلَّا بِلُغَةِ قَوْمِهِ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty sent every prophet with the language of his people.
Hadith 10320
عَنْ أَوْسِ بْنِ أَبِي أَوْسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ((إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ حَرَّمَ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ أَنْ تَأْكُلَ أَجْسَادَ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ صَلَوَاتُ اللَّهِ وَسَلَامُهُ عَلَيْهِمْ))
Narrated from Sayyiduna Aws bin Abi Aws (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Verily, Allah Almighty has forbidden the earth to consume the bodies of the Prophets; upon them be Allah’s mercy and peace.
