Hadith 10241
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي قَالَ كُنْتُ جَالِسًا إِلَى جَنْبِ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَمَرَّ شَيْخٌ جَمِيلٌ مِنْ بَنِي غِفَارٍ وَفِي أُذُنَيْهِ صَمَمٌ أَوْ قَالَ وَقْرٌ أَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهِ حُمَيْدٌ فَلَمَّا أَقْبَلَ قَالَ يَا ابْنَ أَخِي أَوْسِعْ لَهُ فِيمَا بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكَ فَإِنَّهُ قَدْ صَحِبَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ الشَّيْخُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يُنْشِئُ السَّحَابَ فَيَنْطِقُ أَحْسَنَ النُّطْقِ وَيَضْحَكُ أَحْسَنَ الضِّحْكِ
Sa’d says: I was sitting in the mosque with Humaid bin Abdur Rahman, when a handsome elder from Banu Ghifar passed by, who was hard of hearing. When Humaid sent a message to him, he turned his attention. Then Humaid said: My nephew! Make room between me and yourself for him, because he is a companion of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. That elder said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: Indeed, Allah Almighty creates the cloud, and then it speaks in the best manner and laughs in the best manner.
Hadith 10242
عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا سَمِعَ الرَّعْدَ وَالصَّوَاعِقَ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ لَا تَقْتُلْنَا بِغَضَبِكَ وَلَا تُهْلِكْنَا بِعَذَابِكَ وَعَافِنَا قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would hear the sound of thunder and lightning, he would say: O Allah! Do not destroy us with Your wrath, nor ruin us with Your punishment, and grant us safety before that.
Hadith 10243
عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ أَقْبَلَتْ يَهُودٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالُوا يَا أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ إِنَّا نَسْأَلُكَ عَنْ خَمْسَةِ أَشْيَاءَ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ وَفِيهِ قَالُوا أَخْبِرْنَا مَا هَذَا الرَّعْدُ قَالَ مَلَكٌ مِنْ مَلَائِكَةِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مُوَكَّلٌ بِالسَّحَابِ بِيَدِهِ أَوْ فِي يَدِهِ مِخْرَاقٌ مِنْ نَارٍ يَزْجُرُ بِهِ السَّحَابَ يَسُوقُهُ حَيْثُ أَمَرَ اللَّهُ قَالُوا فَمَا هَذَا الصَّوْتُ الَّذِي نَسْمَعُ قَالَ صَوْتُهُ قَالُوا صَدَقْتَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, that the Jews came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and they said: O Abu al-Qasim! We will ask you about five things, ... ... , then they mentioned the entire hadith, and in it was also this: They said: Tell us, what is thunder? He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: One of Allah’s angels has been assigned the management of the clouds; in his hand is a sword of fire, with which he drives the clouds and moves them according to Allah’s command. They said: The sound we hear, what is that? He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: That is his voice. The Jews said: You have spoken the truth.
Hadith 10244
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَوْ أَنَّ عِبَادِي أَطَاعُونِي لَأَسْقَيْتُهُمُ الْمَطَرَ بِاللَّيْلِ وَأَطْلَعْتُ عَلَيْهِمُ الشَّمْسَ بِالنَّهَارِ وَلَمَا أَسْمَعْتُهُمْ صَوْتَ الرَّعْدِ وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ حُسْنَ الظَّنِّ بِاللَّهِ مِنْ حُسْنِ عِبَادَةِ اللَّهِ
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Your Lord has said: If My servants obey Me, I will send rain upon them at night, I will make the sun rise for them during the day, and I will not even let them hear the sound of thunder. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) further said: Having good expectations about Allah is part of the best worship of Him.
Hadith 10245
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا تَسُبُّوا الرِّيحَ فَإِنَّهَا تَجِيءُ بِالرَّحْمَةِ وَالْعَذَابِ وَلَكِنْ سَلُوا اللَّهَ خَيْرَهَا وَتَعَوَّذُوا بِهِ مِنْ شَرِّهَا
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not speak ill of the wind, for it brings both mercy and punishment. Ask Allah Almighty for its goodness and seek refuge with Him from its evil.
Hadith 10246
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا قَالَ أَخَذَتِ النَّاسَ رِيحٌ بِطَرِيقِ مَكَّةَ وَعُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ حَاجٌّ فَاشْتَدَّتْ عَلَيْهِمْ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ لِمَنْ حَوْلَهُ مَنْ يُحَدِّثُنَا عَنِ الرِّيحِ فَلَمْ يُرْجِعُوا إِلَيْهِ شَيْئًا فَبَلَغَنِي الَّذِي سَأَلَ عَنْهُ عُمَرُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ فَاسْتَحْثَثْتُ رَاحِلَتِي حَتَّى أَدْرَكْتُهُ فَقُلْتُ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أُخْبِرْتُ أَنَّكَ سَأَلْتَ عَنِ الرِّيحِ وَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ الرِّيحُ مِنْ رَوْحِ اللَّهِ تَأْتِي بِالرَّحْمَةِ وَتَأْتِي بِالْعَذَابِ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمُوهَا فَلَا تَسُبُّوهَا وَسَلُوا اللَّهَ خَيْرَهَا وَاسْتَعِيذُوا بِهِ مِنْ شَرِّهَا
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that people were on the way to Makkah Mukarramah, a wind began to blow, Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, was going for Hajj, the wind became strong, Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, asked the people around him: Who will tell us about the wind? The people did not give any answer, when I came to know of Sayyiduna Umar’s question, I hurried my mount until I reached him and said: O Commander of the Faithful! I have learned that you asked about the wind, I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say about it: The origin of the wind is from Allah Almighty, it comes with mercy and also with punishment, so when you see it, do not speak ill of it, rather ask Allah Almighty for its goodness and seek refuge from its evil.
Hadith 10247
عَنْ جَابِرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَفَرٍ قَالَ فَهَبَّتْ رِيحٌ شَدِيدَةٌ فَقَالَ هَذِهِ لِمَوْتِ مُنَافِقٍ قَالَ فَلَمَّا قَدِمْنَا الْمَدِينَةَ إِذَا هُوَ قَدْ مَاتَ مُنَافِقٌ عَظِيمٌ مِنْ عُظَمَاءِ الْمُنَافِقِينَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was on a journey when a very strong wind blew. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is because of the death of a hypocrite." So when we reached Madinah, we saw that one of the prominent hypocrites among the great hypocrites had died.
Hadith 10248
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا هَبَّتِ الرِّيحُ عُرِفَ ذَلِكَ فِي وَجْهِهِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the wind would blow, it could be discerned from the face of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (that he was becoming concerned).
