بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي الْتَرْهِيْبِ مِنْ سَبِّ الْمُسْلِمِ وَقِتَالِهِ وَأَنَّ إِثْمَ ذَلِكَ عَلَى الْبَادِيءِ مَالَمْ يَعْتَدِ الْمَظْلُومُ
Chapter: What has been reported regarding the warning against insulting or fighting a Muslim, and that the sin is upon the initiator unless the oppressed transgresses

Hadith 10126
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ شُعْبَةَ حَدَّثَنِي زُبَيْدٌ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ سِبَابُ الْمُسْلِمِ فُسُوقٌ وَقِتَالُهُ كُفْرٌ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِأَبِي وَائِلٍ أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَ مِنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ نَعَمْ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: To abuse a Muslim is wickedness, and to fight him is disbelief.
Hadith 10127
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ سِبَابُ الْمُسْلِمِ أَخَاهُ فُسُوقٌ وَقِتَالُهُ كُفْرٌ وَحُرْمَةُ مَالِهِ كَحُرْمَةِ دَمِهِ
Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) also narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: To revile a Muslim is wickedness and to fight him is disbelief, and the sanctity of a Muslim is like the sanctity of his blood.
Hadith 10128
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمُسْتَبَّانِ مَا قَالَا فَعَلَى الْبَادِئِ مَا لَمْ يَعْتَدِ الْمَظْلُومُ
Syedna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whatever two people who abuse each other say, all the sin will be upon the one who started it, as long as the oppressed does not exceed the limits.
Hadith 10129
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يَمْشِيَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى أَخِيهِ بِالسَّلَاحِ فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَدْرِي أَحَدُكُمْ لَعَلَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَنْزِعُ فِي يَدِهِ فَيَقَعُ فِي حُفْرَةٍ مِنَ النَّارِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: No man should ever point a weapon towards his brother, for he does not know—perhaps Satan may snatch it from his hand, and thus he may fall into a pit of fire.
Hadith 10130
عَنْ عِيَاضِ بْنِ حِمَارٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ رَجُلٌ مِنْ قَوْمِي يَشْتُمُنِي وَهُوَ دُونِي عَلَيَّ بَأْسٌ أَنْ أَنْتَصِرَ مِنْهُ قَالَ الْمُسْتَبَّانِ شَيْطَانَانِ يَتَهَاذَيَانِ وَيَتَكَاذَبَانِ (وَفِي لَفْظٍ) يَتَكَاذَبَانِ وَيَتَهَاتَرَانِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Iyad bin Hamar (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I said, "O Messenger of Allah! A man from my tribe abuses me, while he is a person of lower status than me. Now, if I take revenge on him, will there be any blame on me?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Two people who abuse each other are both devils; they speak obscenely and lie." In another narration: "They lie and accuse each other."
Hadith 10131
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِثْمُ الْمُسْتَبَّيْنِ مَا قَالَا عَلَى الْبَادِئِ حَتَّى يَعْتَدِيَ الْمَظْلُومُ أَوْ إِلَّا أَنْ يَعْتَدِيَ الْمَظْلُومُ

Hadith 10132
عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يَرْمِي رَجُلٌ رَجُلًا بِالْفِسْقِ أَوْ يَرْمِيهِ بِالْكُفْرِ إِلَّا ارْتَدَّتْ عَلَيْهِ إِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ صَاحِبُهُ كَذَلِكَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Hadith 10133
عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ مُقَرِّنٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَسَبَّ رَجُلٌ رَجُلًا عِنْدَهُ قَالَ فَجَعَلَ الرَّجُلُ الْمَسْبُوبُ يَقُولُ عَلَيْكَ السَّلَامُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَا إِنَّ مَلَكًا بَيْنَكُمَا يَذُبُّ عَنْكَ كُلَّمَا شَتَمَكَ هَذَا قَالَ لَهُ بَلْ أَنْتَ وَأَنْتَ أَحَقُّ بِهِ وَإِذَا قَالَ لَهُ عَلَيْكَ السَّلَامُ قَالَ لَا بَلْ لَكَ أَنْتَ أَحَقُّ بِهِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Nu’man bin Muqarrin (may Allah be pleased with him) that in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), a man abused another man, while he replied: “Peace be upon you.” Seeing this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Beware! Indeed, there is an angel among you who defends you. Whenever that man abuses you, the angel says to him: ‘Rather, it is you yourself, and you are more deserving of that abuse.’ And when the oppressed says: ‘Peace be upon you,’ the angel says: ‘No, rather this peace is for you, and you are more deserving of it yourself.’”
Hadith 10134
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ عَمَّارُ بْنُ يَاسِرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ لَمَّا هَجَانَا الْمُشْرِكُونَ شَكَوْنَا ذَلِكَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ قُولُوا لَهُمْ كَمَا يَقُولُونَ لَكُمْ قَالَ فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنَا نُعَلِّمُهُ إِمَاءَ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the polytheists satirized us and we complained about this to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: "Say to them as much as they say to you." Then we taught those things to the slave girls of Madinah.
Hadith 10135
عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا تَسُبُّوا الْأَمْوَاتَ فَتُؤْذُوا الْأَحْيَاءَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mughirah bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not speak ill of the dead, for by doing so you will cause distress to the living.
