O servants of Allah! Become brothers to one another.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took the pledge from women, he made an agreement with them that they would not wail (lament loudly for the dead). Some women said: O Messenger of Allah! Some women had helped us in wailing during the time of ignorance; can we help them in Islam? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In Islam, there is neither such help, nor shighar, nor ‘aqr, nor jalb, nor janb, and whoever commits looting is not from among us.

‘Ulaym says: We were sitting on a roof, and a companion was also present with us. Yazid, the narrator, says: I think he was Sayyiduna ‘Abas Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him). At that time, people were dying of plague. Then ‘Abas said three times: O plague! Take me. ‘Ulaym said: Why do you pray for this? Did not the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: No person should wish for death, because at that time his deeds are cut off and he is not returned so that he may please Allah Almighty. He (‘Abas) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Die before six things: the rule of fools, the abundance of police, the selling of justice, the cheapness of blood, the severing of ties of kinship, and before people recite the Noble Qur’an like flutes and songs, seeking pleasure and ecstasy, and they put someone forward (for leadership) only because he recites melodiously, even though he is the least understanding and knowledgeable among them.

It is narrated from Shaddad bin Abi Ammar Shami that Sayyiduna Awf bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O plague! Draw me towards yourself. People said: Why do you say this when you have heard that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When a believer is granted a longer life, it is always better for him. He said: Yes, why not, I have heard this hadith, but I fear six things: the rule of fools, justice being sold, abundance of police, severing of family ties, people reciting the Holy Qur’an like flutes and songs for pleasure, and killing.
