Hadith 9975
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ ((ثَلَاثَةٌ قَدْ حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمُ الْجَنَّةَ مُدْمِنُ الْخَمْرِ وَالْعَاقُّ وَالدَّيُّوثُ الَّذِي يُقِرُّ فِي أَهْلِهِ الْخَبَثَ))
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There are three persons upon whom Allah Almighty has made Paradise forbidden: one who persistently drinks alcohol, one who is disobedient to his parents, and the cuckold who allows evil to remain in his house.
Hadith 9976
عَنْهُ أَيْضًا قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ((ثَلَاثٌ لَا يَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ وَلَا يَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الْعَاقُّ وَالِدَيْهِ وَالْمُدْمِنُ الْخَمْرِ وَالْمَرْأَةُ الْمُتَرَجِّلَةُ الْمُتَشَبِّهَةُ بِالرِّجَالِ وَالدَّيُّوثُ وَثَلَاثٌ لَا يَنْظُرُ اللَّهُ إِلَيْهِمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الْعَاقُّ بِوَالِدَيْهِ وَالْمُدْمِنُ الْخَمْرِ وَالْمَنَّانُ بِمَا أَعْطَى))
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Three persons will neither enter Paradise nor will Allah look at them on the Day of Resurrection: one who is disobedient to his parents, one who is habitual in drinking alcohol, a woman who imitates men, and a cuckold. And Allah will not look at three persons on the Day of Resurrection: one who is disobedient to his parents, one who is habitual in drinking alcohol, and one who reminds others of his favors.
Hadith 9977
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ((ثَلَاثٌ إِذَا كُنَّ فِي الرَّجُلِ فَهُوَ الْمُنَافِقُ الْخَالِصُ إِنْ حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ وَإِنْ وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ وَإِنِ ائْتُمِنَ خَانَ وَمَنْ كَانَتْ فِيهِ خَصْلَةٌ مِنْهُنَّ لَمْ يَزَلْ يَعْنِي فِيهِ خَصْلَةٌ مِنَ النِّفَاقِ حَتَّى يَدَعَهَا))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There are three traits; whoever possesses them is a pure hypocrite: when he speaks, he lies; when he makes a promise, he breaks it; and when he is entrusted, he betrays the trust. And whoever has one of these traits in him, then he has a trait of hypocrisy in him until he abandons it.
Hadith 9978
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ ((ثَلَاثٌ مِنْ عَمَلِ أَهْلِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ لَا يَتْرُكُهُنَّ أَهْلُ الْإِسْلَامِ النِّيَاحَةُ وَالِاسْتِسْقَاءُ بِالْأَنْوَاءِ)) وَكَذَا قُلْتُ لِسَعِيدٍ وَمَا هُوَ قَالَ دَعْوَى الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ يَا آلَ فُلَانٍ يَا آلَ فُلَانٍ يَا آلَ فُلَانٍ
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There are three practices of the people of ignorance which the people of Islam will not abandon: wailing (over the dead), seeking rain through the stars, and calling out with the calls of ignorance such as, "O family of so-and-so, O family of so-and-so."
Hadith 9979
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُولُ ((ثَلَاثُ دَعَوَاتٍ مُسْتَجَابَاتٌ لَا شَكَّ فِيهِنَّ دَعْوَةُ الْمَظْلُومِ وَدَعْوَةُ الْمُسَافِرِ وَدَعْوَةُ الْوَالِدِ عَلَى وَلَدِهِ))
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Three supplications are accepted, there is no doubt in their acceptance: the supplication of the oppressed, the supplication of the traveler, and the supplication of parents for their children.
Hadith 9980
عَنْهُ أَيْضًا قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ((ثَلَاثٌ لَا يُكَلِّمُهُمُ اللَّهُ وَلَا يَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِمْ وَلَا يُزَكِّيهِمْ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ رَجُلٌ عَلَى فَضْلِ مَاءٍ بِالْفَلَاةِ يَمْنَعُهُ مِنِ ابْنِ السَّبِيلِ وَرَجُلٌ بَايَعَ الْإِمَامَ وَلَا يُبَايِعُهُ إِلَّا لِدُنْيَا فَإِنْ أَعْطَاهُ مِنْهَا وَفَى لَهُ وَإِنْ لَمْ يُعْطِهِ لَمْ يَفِ لَهُ وَرَجُلٌ بَايَعَ رَجُلًا سِلْعَةً بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ فَحَلَفَ لَهُ بِاللَّهِ لَأَخَذَهَا بِكَذَا وَكَذَا فَصَدَّقَهُ وَهُوَ عَلَى غَيْرِ ذَلِكَ))
Syedna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty will neither speak to three types of people, nor look at them, nor purify them, and for them there will be a painful punishment: The first is the person who takes possession of surplus water in a desert and prevents a traveler from it; the second is the person who pledges allegiance to a ruler only for worldly gain—if he is given worldly wealth, he fulfills the pledge, and if he is not given anything, he does not fulfill it; the third is the person who, after Asr prayer, sells his goods and swears that he bought the goods for such and such a price, so the buyer believes him because of his oath, while in reality his claim is false.
Hadith 9981
عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ((إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَرِهَ لَكُمْ ثَلَاثًا قِيلَ وَقَالَ وَكَثْرَةَ السُّؤَالِ وَإِضَاعَةَ الْمَالِ وَحَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأْدَ الْبَنَاتِ وَعُقُوقَ الْأُمَّهَاتِ وَمَنْعَ وَهَاتِ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mughirah bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Indeed, Allah Almighty has disliked three things for you: idle talk, excessive questioning, and wasting wealth. And His Messenger has declared three things forbidden for you: burying daughters alive, disobeying mothers, and withholding and begging.
Hadith 9982
عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ ثَقِيفٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ سَأَلْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ ثَلَاثٍ فَلَمْ يُرَخِّصْ لَنَا فِي شَيْءٍ مِنْهُنَّ سَأَلْنَاهُ أَنْ يَرُدَّ إِلَيْنَا أَبَا بَكْرَةَ وَكَانَ مَمْلُوكًا وَأَسْلَمَ قَبْلَنَا فَقَالَ ((لَا هُوَ طَلِيقُ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ طَلِيقُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ)) ثُمَّ سَأَلْنَاهُ أَنْ يُرَخِّصَ لَنَا فِي الشِّتَاءِ وَكَانَتْ أَرْضُنَا أَرْضًا بَارِدَةً يَعْنِي فِي الطُّهُورِ فَلَمْ يُرَخِّصْ لَنَا وَسَأَلْنَاهُ أَنْ يُرَخِّصَ لَنَا فِي الدُّبَّاءِ فَلَمْ يُرَخِّصَ لَنَا فِيهِ
A man from Banu Thaqif narrates, he says: We asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, about three things, and he did not grant us concession in any of them. We requested him to return Abu Bakrah to us; he was a slave and had accepted Islam before us, but the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: No, he is freed by Allah Almighty and then by His Messenger. Then we asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, for concession regarding purification because there is severe cold in our area, but he did not grant us concession. Then we sought permission from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, to use gourd vessels, but he did not grant us concession in that either.
Hadith 9983
عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ ((ثَلَاثَةٌ لَا يَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ مُدْمِنُ خَمْرٍ وَقَاطِعُ رَحِمٍ وَمُصَدِّقٌ بِالسِّحْرِ وَمَنْ مَاتَ مُدْمِنًا لِلْخَمْرِ سَقَاهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مِنْ نَهْرِ الْغُوطَةِ)) قِيلَ وَمَا نَهْرُ الْغُوطَةِ قَالَ ((نَهْرٌ يَجْرِي مِنْ فُرُوجِ الْمُومِسَاتِ يُؤْذِي أَهْلَ النَّارِ رِيحُ فُرُوجِهِمْ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Three types of people will not enter Paradise: one who is habitual in drinking alcohol, one who severs ties of kinship, and one who affirms magic. And whoever dies in the state of being habitual in drinking alcohol, Allah Almighty will make him drink from the river of Ghuta. Someone asked: What is meant by the river of Ghuta? He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: It is a river that flows from the private parts of adulterous women; the stench of their private parts will cause torment to the inhabitants of Hell.
Hadith 9984
عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ((ثَلَاثَةٌ لَا يُكَلِّمُهُمُ اللَّهُ وَلَا يُزَكِّيهِمْ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ)) قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَنْ هُمْ خَسِرُوا وَخَابُوا قَالَ فَأَعَادَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ قَالَ ((الْمُسْبِلُ وَالْمُنْفِقُ سِلْعَتَهُ بِالْحَلْفِ الْكَاذِبِ أَوِ الْفَاجِرِ وَالْمَنَّانُ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty will neither speak to three persons, nor will He purify them, and for them there will be a painful punishment. Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! Who are these people? They are the losers and the unsuccessful ones. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) repeated this three times and then said: The one who lets his garment hang below his ankles, the one who sells goods by swearing falsely, and the one who reminds others of his favors.
Hadith 9985
عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ ((مَنْ فَارَقَ الرُّوحُ الْجَسَدَ وَهُوَ بَرِيءٌ مِنْ ثَلَاثٍ دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ الْكِبْرَ وَالدَّيْنَ وَالْغُلُولَ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Whoever's soul departs from his body in such a state that he is free from three things, he will enter Paradise: arrogance, debt, and betrayal.
Hadith 9986
عَنْ فَضَالَةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ ((ثَلَاثَةٌ لَا تَسْأَلْ عَنْهُمْ رَجُلٌ فَارَقَ الْجَمَاعَةَ وَعَصَى إِمَامَهُ وَمَاتَ عَاصِيًا وَأَمَةٌ أَوْ عَبْدٌ أَبَقَ فَمَاتَ وَامْرَأَةٌ غَابَ عَنْهَا زَوْجُهَا قَدْ كَفَاهَا مُؤْنَةَ الدُّنْيَا فَتَبَرَّجَتْ بَعْدَهُ فَلَا تَسْأَلْ عَنْهُمْ وَثَلَاثَةٌ لَا تَسْأَلْ عَنْهُمْ رَجُلٌ نَازَعَ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ رِدَاءَهُ فَإِنَّ رِدَاءَهُ الْكِبْرِيَاءُ وَإِزَارَهُ الْعِزَّةُ وَرَجُلٌ شَكَّ فِي أَمْرِ اللَّهِ وَالْقُنُوطُ مِنْ رَحْمَةِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Fadala bin Ubaid (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not ask about (the severity of the crime of) three persons: (1) The man who separated himself from the congregation, disobeyed his Imam, and died in that state of disobedience; (2) The slave or bondwoman who ran away from their master and died in that condition; and (3) The woman whose husband was absent, while he had fulfilled her worldly expenses, but she adorned herself (for others) after him—so do not ask about these disobedient ones. There are three more persons, do not ask about (the severity of the crime of) these either: (1) The man who tried to snatch Allah Almighty’s cloak, that is, tried to be arrogant—for indeed His cloak is arrogance and His lower garment is greatness; (2) The man who doubted in the matter of Allah Almighty; and (3) The one who despaired of the mercy of Allah Almighty.
Hadith 9987
عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ قَالَ قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا لِابْنِ السَّائِبِ قَاصِّ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ ثَلَاثَةٌ لَتُتَابِعَنِّي عَلَيْهِنَّ أَوْ لَأُنَاجِزَنَّكَ فَقَالَ مَا هُنَّ بَلْ أَنَا أُتَابِعُكِ يَا أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ قَالَتِ اجْتَنِبِ السَّجْعَ مِنَ الدُّعَاءِ فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَصْحَابَهُ كَانُوا لَا يَفْعَلُونَ ذَلِكَ وَقَالَ إِسْمَاعِيلُ مَرَّةً فَقَالَتْ إِنِّي عَهِدْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَصْحَابَهُ وَهُمْ لَا يَفْعَلُونَ ذَلِكَ وَقُصَّ عَلَى النَّاسِ فِي كُلِّ جُمُعَةٍ مَرَّةً فَإِنْ أَبَيْتَ فَثِنْتَيْنِ فَإِنْ أَبَيْتَ فَثَلَاثًا فَلَا تُمِلَّ النَّاسَ هَذَا الْكِتَابَ وَلَا أُلْفِيَنَّكَ تَأْتِي الْقَوْمَ وَهُمْ فِي حَدِيثٍ مِنْ حَدِيثِهِمْ فَتَقْطَعُ عَلَيْهِمْ حَدِيثَهُمْ وَلَكِنِ اتْرُكْهُمْ فَإِذَا جَرَّؤُوكَ عَلَيْهِ وَأَمَرُوكَ بِهِ فَحَدِّثْهُمْ
Imam Shabi says: Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said to the preacher of Madinah, Ibn Saib: Either you will agree with me on three things, or I will oppose you. He said: What are those things, O Mother of the Believers! I will agree with you. Sayyida said: (1) Avoid rhymed speech in supplication, because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and his companions did not do so, (2) Preach to the people once a week, if you refuse then do it twice, if you do not accept even this then do it three times, do not make people weary of this book, and (3) I should not find you in a state where you come to people while they are talking among themselves and you come and interrupt their conversation, you should leave them until if they themselves encourage you and order you to speak, then you may talk to them.
Hadith 9988
عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ((الدَّوَاوِينُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ثَلَاثَةٌ دِيوَانٌ لَا يَعْبَأُ اللَّهُ بِهِ شَيْئًا وَدِيوَانٌ لَا يَتْرُكُ اللَّهُ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا وَدِيوَانٌ لَا يَغْفِرُهُ اللَّهُ فَأَمَّا الدِّيوَانُ الَّذِي لَا يَغْفِرُهُ اللَّهُ فَالشِّرْكُ بِاللَّهِ قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ {وَمَنْ يُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدْ حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ الْجَنَّةَ} وَأَمَّا الدِّيوَانُ الَّذِي لَا يَعْبَأُ اللَّهُ بِهِ شَيْئًا فَظُلْمُ الْعَبْدِ نَفْسَهُ فِيمَا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ رَبِّهِ مِنْ صَوْمِ يَوْمٍ تَرَكَهُ أَوْ صَلَاةٍ تَرَكَهَا فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَغْفِرُ ذَلِكَ وَيَتَجَاوَزُ إِنْ شَاءَ وَأَمَّا الدِّيوَانُ الَّذِي لَا يَتْرُكُ اللَّهُ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا فَظُلْمُ الْعِبَادِ بَعْضِهِمْ بَعْضًا الْقِصَاصُ لَا مَحَالَةَ))
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There are three types of registers with Allah Almighty. Allah does not care about one register, He will not leave anything from one register, and He will not forgive one register. So the register which Allah will not forgive is associating partners with Allah, as Allah Almighty has said: And whoever associates partners with Allah, Allah has forbidden Paradise for him. The register about which Allah does not care is the servant's wrongdoing against himself; this matter is between him and his Lord. For example, if he leaves a fast for a day or misses a prayer, then indeed, if Allah wills, He will forgive him and overlook it. And the register from which Allah will not leave anything is the wrongdoing of people against each other; in these matters, retribution will inevitably be taken.
Hadith 9989
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ ((ثَلَاثٌ مَنْ كُنَّ فِيهِ فَهُوَ مُنَافِقٌ وَإِنْ صَامَ وَصَلَّى وَزَعَمَ أَنَّهُ مُسْلِمٌ إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ وَإِذَا ائْتُمِنَ خَانَ))
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There are three traits; whoever possesses them is a hypocrite, even if he fasts, prays, and thinks that he is a Muslim: when he speaks, he lies; when he makes a promise, he breaks it; and when he is entrusted, he betrays the trust.
