It is narrated from Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man came to ask a question to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). He would sometimes look at the man's head and sometimes at his feet, wanting to see any sign of poverty on him. Then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the man: "How much wealth do you have?" He replied: "Forty camels." Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth, that if the son of Adam had two valleys of gold, he would seek a third, and only dust fills the belly of the son of Adam. However, Allah accepts the repentance of the one who repents." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "What is this that you are narrating?" I said: "Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) taught me exactly like this." He said: "Order him to come to us." So Sayyiduna Ubayy (may Allah be pleased with him) came. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked him: "What do they say regarding you?" Sayyiduna Ubayy said: "Yes, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) taught me exactly like this." He said: "Should I establish these words?" He said: "Yes, do so."

Narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If the son of Adam had a valley full of wealth, he would wish to have another valley like it, and nothing fills the belly of the son of Adam except dust. However, Allah accepts the repentance of the one who repents. Then Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: I do not know whether this is a part of the Noble Qur’an or not.
