Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I met the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I initiated (the conversation) and held his hand and said: O Messenger of Allah! What is the salvation of a believer? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Uqbah! Restrain your tongue, let your house contain you (i.e., do not leave your house without necessity), and weep over your mistakes. Sayyiduna Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) met me and he initiated (the conversation) with me and held my hand and said: O Uqbah bin Amir! Shall I not teach you the best Surahs, the like of which have neither been revealed in the Torah, nor in the Psalms, nor in the Gospel, nor in the (rest of the) Qur’an? I said: Certainly, may Allah make me your ransom. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) taught me {قُلْ ھُوَ اللّٰہُ اَحَدٌ}, {قُلْ اَعُوْذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَق}, and {قُلْ اَعُوْذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاس}, and then said: O Uqbah! Do not forget them and do not spend any night without reciting them. So, since the time the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) told me not to forget these Surahs, I have neither forgotten them nor have I spent a night without reciting them. Sayyiduna Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with him) further said: Then I met the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and I initiated (the conversation) and held his hand and said: O Messenger of Allah! Tell me about virtuous deeds. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Uqbah! Maintain ties with the one who severs relations with you, give to the one who deprives you, and forgive the one who wrongs you.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: O Messenger of Allah! Advise me. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Fear Allah wherever you are. He said: Advise me more. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do good after evil, so that it may erase the evil. He said: Advise me further. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Deal with people with good character.

Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a man came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "Give me some concise and comprehensive advice." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you perform prayer, perform it as if it is your last prayer (of your life), and do not say anything for which you would have to apologize tomorrow, and be completely hopeless (and independent) of what people possess."
