Hadith 9517
Ismail bin Abdullah bin Ja'far says: It has reached me that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Whoever is in a gathering and, upon leaving the gathering, recites this supplication: Subhanak Allahumma wa bihamdika, la ilaha illa anta, astaghfiruka wa atubu ilayk (Glory is to You, O Allah, and with Your praise; there is no deity except You; I seek Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance), then the sins committed in that gathering will be forgiven. When I narrated this hadith to Yazid bin Khusaifah, he said: Sayyiduna Sa'ib bin Yazid, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated to me a similar hadith from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.
Hadith 9518
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Barzah Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) that in the last part of the life of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), when a gathering would become lengthy, upon rising from it, he (peace and blessings be upon him) would recite this supplication: "Subhanaka Allahumma wa bihamdika, ash-hadu an la ilaha illa anta, astaghfiruka wa atubu ilayk" (Glory is to You, O Allah, and with Your praise; I bear witness that there is no deity except You; I seek Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance). One of us said: Previously, we did not hear such supplicatory words from you, O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: These words are an expiation for the sins committed in the gathering.
Hadith 9519
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever sits in a gathering in which there is much idle talk, and then before getting up from that gathering, he recites these words: "Subhanaka Rabbana wa bihamdika la ilaha illa anta astaghfiruka thumma atubu ilayk" (Glory is to You, O our Lord! You alone are the true deity, I seek Your forgiveness and then turn to You in repentance), then whatever occurred in that gathering will be forgiven for him.
Hadith 9520
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would sit in any gathering or perform prayer, he would say some supplicatory words. Sayyida asked him (peace and blessings be upon him) about these words. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If a person speaks good words, these words will be a seal upon them until the Day of Resurrection, and if he says anything other than good, these words will become an expiation for him. The words are: Subhanaka wa bihamdika la ilaha illa anta astaghfiruka wa atubu ilayk (Glory is to You and with Your praise, there is no true deity except You, I seek Your forgiveness and turn to You).
