Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No person should make another person stand up from his seat; rather, make room for each other. Allah Almighty will also create spaciousness for you.
Hadith 9499
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once he was called to give testimony. So he came home, and a man stood up from his gathering for him, but he said: When a man stands up from his seat for another man, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from sitting in his place, and also forbade that a man should wipe his hands with the garment of a person who does not own it.
Hadith 9500
It is narrated from Abu Khasib, he says: I was sitting when Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) arrived. A man stood up from his gathering to give him space, but he did not sit in that place; rather, he sat somewhere else. That man said: If you had sat in my place, would there have been any harm upon you? He replied: Neither do I wish to sit in your seat nor in anyone else’s seat, after what I myself witnessed in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The detail is that a man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so another man stood up from his gathering for his sake, and he was about to sit in his place, but the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade him from sitting there.

Saeed Maqbari says: I came and sat with Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), while another man was conversing with him. When I joined them, Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) struck his hand on my chest and said: Do you not know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When two men are whispering to each other, do not sit with them until you seek their permission.
