Hadith 9392
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ يَقُولُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مَا لِعَبْدِي الْمُؤْمِنِ عِنْدِي جَزَاءٌ إِذَا قَبَضْتُ صَفِيَّهُ مِنْ أَهْلِ الدُّنْيَا ثُمَّ احْتَسَبَهُ إِلَّا الْجَنَّةُ
Syedna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Allah Almighty says: When I take away something beloved from My servant and he remains patient, seeking reward, then I have nothing to give him as compensation except Paradise.
Hadith 9393
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَنْ مَاتَ لَهُ ثَلَاثَةٌ (زَادَ فِي رِوَايَةٍ مِنَ الْوَلَدِ) لَمْ يَبْلُغُوا الْحِنْثَ لَمْ تَمَسَّهُ النَّارُ إِلَّا تَحِلَّةَ الْقَسَمِ يَعْنِي الْوُرُودَ
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever has three minor children who pass away, the Fire will not touch him, except for fulfilling an oath. Fulfilling an oath here means passing by it.
Hadith 9394
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا قَالَ جَاءَ نِسْوَةٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْنَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا نَقْدِرُ عَلَيْكَ فِي مَجْلِسِكَ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ فَوَاعِدْنَا مِنْكَ يَوْمًا نَأْتِيكَ فِيهِ قَالَ مَوْعِدُكُنَّ بَيْتُ فُلَانٍ وَأَتَاهُنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ وَلِذَلِكَ الْمَوْعِدِ قَالَ فَكَانَ مِمَّا قَالَ لَهُنَّ يَعْنِي مَا مِنْ امْرَأَةٍ تُقَدِّمُ ثَلَاثًا مِنَ الْوَلَدِ تَحْتَسِبُهُنَّ إِلَّا دَخَلَتِ الْجَنَّةَ فَقَالَتْ امْرَأَةٌ أَوِ اثْنَانِ قَالَ أَوِ اثْنَانِ
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that some women came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and said: O Messenger of Allah! When you are present in the gatherings of men, we cannot come to you, so please appoint a day for us, and we will come to you on that day. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Your appointment is at the house of so-and-so. So, according to the promise, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, came to that house, and among the things he instructed the women was this: Any woman who sends ahead three children and then patiently endures it seeking reward, she will enter Paradise. A woman asked: And if there are two children? The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Even if there are two.
Hadith 9395
عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَحْوُهُ وَفِيهِ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَهُنَّ مَا مِنْكُنَّ امْرَأَةٌ يَمُوتُ لَهَا ثَلَاثَةٌ مِنَ الْوَلَدِ إِلَّا كَانُوا لَهَا حِجَابًا مِنَ النَّارِ فَقَالَتْ امْرَأَةٌ الخ
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) also narrated a similar hadith of the Prophet, except that in it: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to them: Whoever among you has three children who pass away, they will be a veil for her from the Fire. Then a woman said: … .
Hadith 9396
عَنْ جَابِرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَنْ مَاتَ لَهُ ثَلَاثَةٌ مِنَ الْوَلَدِ فَاحْتَسَبَهُمْ دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ قَالَ قُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَاثْنَانِ قَالَ اثْنَانِ قَالَ مَحْمُودٌ فَقُلْتُ لِجَابِرٍ أَرَاكُمْ لَوْ قُلْتُمْ وَوَاحِدًا لَقَالَ وَوَاحِدًا قَالَ وَأَنَا وَاللَّهِ أَظُنُّ ذَلِكَ
Syedna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever's three children pass away and he remains patient seeking reward, he will enter Paradise. We said: O Messenger of Allah! What if there are two children? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Even if there are two. Mahmood, the narrator, says: I said to Syedna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him): I think that if you had asked about one child, he (peace and blessings be upon him) would have said: Even if it is one. He said: By Allah! This is also my assumption.
Hadith 9397
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمَيْنِ يَمُوتُ لَهُمَا ثَلَاثَةٌ مِنَ الْوَلَدِ لَمْ يَبْلُغُوا الْحِنْثَ إِلَّا كَانُوا لَهُ حِصْنًا حَصِينًا مِنَ النَّارِ فَقِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَإِنْ كَانَا اثْنَيْنِ قَالَ وَإِنْ كَانَا اثْنَيْنِ فَقَالَ أَبُو ذَرٍّ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَمْ أُقَدِّمْ إِلَّا اثْنَيْنِ قَالَ وَإِنْ كَانَا اثْنَيْنِ قَالَ فَقَالَ أُبَيُّ بْنُ كَعْبٍ أَبُو الْمُنْذِرِ سَيِّدُ الْقُرَّاءِ لَمْ أُقَدِّمْ إِلَّا وَاحِدًا قَالَ فَقِيلَ لَهُ وَإِنْ كَانَ وَاحِدًا فَقَالَ إِنَّمَا ذَاكَ عِنْدَ الصَّدْمَةِ الْأُولَى
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If three minor children of a Muslim husband and wife pass away, they will be a strong fortress for them against Hell. Someone asked: O Messenger of Allah! What if there are two children? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Even if there are two. Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! I have only sent two? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Even if there are two. The leader of the reciters, Abu al-Mundhir, Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Only one of my children has passed away? He was replied: Even if it is one child. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: This reward is given only when patience is observed at the onset of the calamity.
Hadith 9398
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ غِيَاثِ بْنِ طَلْقِ بْنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ النَّخَعِيِّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ طَلْقَ بْنَ مُعَاوِيَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا زُرْعَةَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ امْرَأَةً أَتَتِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِصَبِيٍّ لَهَا فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ادْعُ اللَّهَ لَهُ فَقَدْ دَفَنْتُ ثَلَاثَةً فَقَالَ لَقَدِ احْتَظَرْتِ بِحِظَارٍ شَدِيدٍ مِنَ النَّارِ قَالَ حَفْصٌ سَمِعْتُ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ مِنْ سِتِّينَ سَنَةً وَلَمْ أَبْلُغْ عَشَرَ سِنِينَ وَسَمِعْتُ حَفْصًا يَذْكُرُ هَذَا الْكَلَامَ سَنَةَ سَبْعٍ وَثَمَانِينَ وَمِائَةٍ
Syedna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a woman came to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) carrying her child and said: O Messenger of Allah! Pray to Allah for this child, I have already buried three children. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then you have become a great barrier against the Fire. Hafs, the narrator, says: It has been sixty years since I heard this blessed hadith, and at that time I was not even ten years old. Ali bin Abdullah, the narrator, says: I heard Hafs saying this in the year 287 AH.
Hadith 9399
عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ حَدَّثَتْنَا امْرَأَةٌ كَانَتْ تَأْتِينَا يُقَالُ لَهَا مَاوِيَّةُ كَانَتْ تُرْزَأُ فِي وَلَدِهَا فَأَتَتْ عُبَيْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مَعْمَرٍ الْقُرَشِيَّ وَمَعَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَحَدَّثَ ذَلِكَ الرَّجُلُ أَنَّ امْرَأَةً أَتَتِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِابْنٍ لَهَا فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ادْعُ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى أَنْ يُبْقِيَهُ لِي فَقَدْ مَاتَ لِي قَبْلَهُ ثَلَاثَةٌ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمُنْذُ أَسْلَمْتِ فَقَالَتْ نَعَمْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ جُنَّةٌ حَصِينَةٌ قَالَتْ مَاوِيَّةُ قَالَ لِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَعْمَرٍ اسْمَعِي يَا مَاوِيَّةُ قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ (يَعْنِي مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ سِيرِينَ) فَخَرَجَتْ مَاوِيَّةُ مِنْ عِنْدِ ابْنِ مَعْمَرٍ فَأَتَتْنَا فَحَدَّثَتْنَا هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ
Muhammad bin Sirin says: A woman named Mawiyaa used to come to us; her children would pass away. She went to Ubaidullah bin Mu’ammar Quraishi, while a companion of the Messenger of Allah was also sitting with him. That companion narrated that a woman brought her son to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! Pray to Allah that He keeps him alive and safe; before this, three of my children have passed away. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: “Since you accepted Islam, have three children of yours died?” She replied: Yes, O Messenger of Allah! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “This is a very strong means of protection (from the Fire).” Mawiyaa says: Ubaidullah bin Mu’ammar said to me: O Mawiyaa, listen carefully (and act with patience and fear Allah). Muhammad bin Sirin says: This woman (Mawiyaa) left Ibn Mu’ammar and came to us and narrated this hadith to us.
Hadith 9400
عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ امْرَأَةٍ يُقَالُ لَهَا رَجَاءُ قَالَتْ كُنْتُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذْ جَاءَتْهُ امْرَأَةٌ بِابْنٍ لَهَا فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ادْعُ لِي فِيهِ بِالْبَرَكَةِ فَإِنَّهُ قَدْ تُوُفِّيَ لِي ثَلَاثَةٌ فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمُنْذُ أَسْلَمْتِ قَالَتْ نَعَمْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ جُنَّةٌ حَصِينَةٌ فَقَالَ لِي رَجُلٌ اسْمَعِي يَا رَجَاءُ مَا يَقُولُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ
Ibn Sirin narrates from a woman named Raja, she says: I was present with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when a woman came to him with her son and said: O Messenger of Allah! Pray for blessings for me in this child, because three of my children have passed away. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked her: "Did these children die after you accepted Islam?" She said: Yes. He ﷺ said: "This is a very strong shield (for protection from Hell)." Then a man said to me: O Raja, listen to what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is saying.
Hadith 9401
عَنْ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ السُّلَمِيِّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَا مِنْ رَجُلٍ مُسْلِمٍ يَتَوَفَّى لَهُ ثَلَاثَةٌ مِنَ الْوَلَدِ لَمْ يَبْلُغُوا الْحِنْثَ إِلَّا تَلَقَّوْهُ مِنْ أَبْوَابِ الْجَنَّةِ الثَّمَانِيَةِ مِنْ أَيِّهَا شَاءَ دَخَلَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Utbah bin Abd Salma (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If a Muslim man has three minor children who pass away, they will meet him at all eight gates of Paradise, and he will enter through whichever gate he wishes.
Hadith 9402
عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَبَسَةَ السُّلَمِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ أَيُّمَا رَجُلٍ مُسْلِمٍ قَدَّمَ لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مِنْ صُلْبِهِ ثَلَاثَةً لَمْ يَبْلُغُوا الْحِنْثَ أَوِ امْرَأَةٍ فَهُمْ لَهُ سِتْرَةٌ مِنَ النَّارِ
Sayyiduna Amr bin Abasah Salami (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Any Muslim man or woman who has sent ahead three minor children from their progeny for the sake of Allah, they will become a barrier for him or her from the Fire.
Hadith 9403
وَعَنْ أُمِّ سُلَيْمٍ بِنْتِ مِلْحَانَ وَهِيَ أُمُّ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ نَحْوَهُ
Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her), the mother of Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), narrates that she also heard a similar hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
Hadith 9404
عَنْ أَبِي سِنَانٍ قَالَ دَفَنْتُ ابْنًا لِي وَإِنِّي لَفِي الْقَبْرِ إِذْ أَخَذَ بِيَدِي أَبُو طَلْحَةَ فَأَخْرَجَنِي فَقَالَ أَلَا أُبَشِّرُكَ قُلْتُ بَلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي الضَّحَّاكُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى يَا مَلَكَ الْمَوْتِ قَبَضْتَ وَلَدَ عَبْدِي قَبَضْتَ قُرَّةَ عَيْنِهِ وَثَمَرَةَ فُؤَادِهِ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَمَا قَالَ قَالَ حَمِدَكَ وَاسْتَرْجَعَ قَالَ ابْنُوا لَهُ بَيْتًا فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَسَمُّوهُ بَيْتَ الْحَمْدِ
Abu Sinan says: I buried my son, and while I was still in the grave, Abu Talha took hold of my hand and pulled me out of the grave and said: Shall I give you glad tidings? I said: Yes, why not. He said: Dahhak bin Abdur Rahman narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash’ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty said: O Angel of Death! Have you taken the soul of My servant’s child? Have you taken the coolness of his eyes and the love of his heart? He says: Yes. Allah Almighty says: Then what did My servant say? He said: He praised You and recited “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.” Allah Almighty said: Then build for him a house in Paradise and name it Bayt al-Hamd (the House of Praise).
Hadith 9405
عَنِ ابْنِ حَصْبَةَ أَوْ أَبِي حَصْبَةَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ شَهِدَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ فَقَالَ تَدْرُونَ مَا الرَّقُوبُ قَالُوا الَّذِي لَا وَلَدَ لَهُ فَقَالَ الرَّقُوبُ كُلُّ الرَّقُوبِ الرَّقُوبُ كُلُّ الرَّقُوبِ الرَّقُوبُ كُلُّ الرَّقُوبِ الَّذِي لَهُ وَلَدٌ فَمَاتَ وَلَمْ يُقَدِّمْ مِنْهُمْ شَيْئًا قَالَ أَتَدْرُونَ مَا الصُّعْلُوكُ قَالُوا الَّذِي لَيْسَ لَهُ مَالٌ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ الصُّعْلُوكُ كُلُّ الصُّعْلُوكِ الصُّعْلُوكُ كُلُّ الصُّعْلُوكِ الَّذِي لَهُ مَالٌ فَمَاتَ وَلَمْ يُقَدِّمْ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا قَالَ ثُمَّ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا الصُّرَعَةُ قَالُوا الصَّرِيعُ قَالَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ الصُّرَعَةُ كُلُّ الصُّرَعَةِ الصُّرَعَةُ كُلُّ الصُّرَعَةِ الرَّجُلُ يَغْضَبُ فَيَشْتَدُّ غَضَبُهُ يَحْمَرُّ وَجْهُهُ وَيَقْشَعِرُّ شَعْرُهُ فَيَصْرَعُ غَضَبَهُ
Ibn Hisbah or Abu Hisbah narrates from a companion who was present at the time of the address of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Do you know who is Raqoob (childless)? The people said: The one who has no children. He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: He is completely Raqoob, he is entirely Raqoob, but the real Raqoob is the one who dies in such a state that he does have children, but he has not sent any child ahead (i.e., has not done any good deeds that benefit him after death). Then he, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Do you know who is Sa’look (poor and destitute)? The people said: The one who has no wealth. He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: He is completely Sa’look, he is entirely Sa’look, but the real Sa’look is the one who, despite being wealthy, dies in such a state that he has not sent any wealth ahead (i.e., has not spent in the way of Allah). Then he, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Do you know who is the great wrestler? They said: The one who throws others down. He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The real wrestler, the greatest wrestler, is the person who, when he gets angry, his anger becomes intense, his face turns red, and his hair stands on end, but he controls his anger.
Hadith 9406
عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا تَعُدُّونَ فِيكُمُ الرَّقُوبَ قَالَ قُلْنَا الَّذِي لَا وَلَدَ لَهُ قَالَ لَا وَلَكِنَّ الرَّقُوبَ الَّذِي لَمْ يُقَدِّمْ مِنْ وَلَدِهِ شَيْئًا
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whom do you consider to be 'Raqoob' (childless) among yourselves? We said: The one who has no children. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No, 'Raqoob' is the one who has not sent any minor child ahead.
Hadith 9407
عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَنْ كَانَ لَهُ فَرَطَانِ مِنْ أُمَّتِي دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا بِأَبِي فَمَنْ كَانَ لَهُ فَرَطٌ فَقَالَ وَمَنْ كَانَ لَهُ فَرَطٌ يَا مُوَفَّقَةُ قَالَتْ فَمَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ فَرَطٌ مِنْ أُمَّتِكَ قَالَ فَأَنَا فَرَطُ أُمَّتِي لَمْ يُصَابُوا بِمِثْلِي
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever from my Ummah has two forerunners will enter Paradise. Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: By my father! What about the one who has only one forerunner? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Even the one who has only one forerunner, O woman granted success! Then Sayyidah said: What about the one from your Ummah who has no forerunner? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then I will be the forerunner for my Ummah; my Ummah has not suffered a hardship like mine.
Hadith 9408
عَنْ مُعَاذٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمَيْنِ يَتَوَفَّى لَهُمَا ثَلَاثَةٌ إِلَّا أَدْخَلَهُمَا اللَّهُ الْجَنَّةَ بِفَضْلِ رَحْمَتِهِ إِيَّاهُمَا فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَوِ اثْنَانِ قَالَ أَوِ اثْنَانِ قَالُوا أَوْ وَاحِدٌ قَالَ أَوْ وَاحِدٌ ثُمَّ قَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنَّ السِّقْطَ لَيَجُرُّ أُمَّهُ بِسَرَرِهِ إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ إِذَا احْتَسَبَتْهُ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If three children of a Muslim husband and wife pass away, Allah Almighty will admit them into Paradise due to His immense mercy upon them. The people asked: O Messenger of Allah! What if there are two children? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Even if there are two. The people again asked: What if there is one? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Even if there is one. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: By the One in Whose hand is my soul! Indeed, the incomplete child will pull his mother towards Paradise by the cut part of the umbilical cord, provided she remains patient seeking reward for it.
Hadith 9409
عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ أُقَيْشٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمَيْنِ يَمُوتُ لَهُمَا أَرْبَعَةُ أَوْلَادٍ إِلَّا أَدْخَلَهُمَا اللَّهُ الْجَنَّةَ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَثَلَاثَةٌ قَالَ وَثَلَاثَةٌ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَاثْنَانِ قَالَ وَاثْنَانِ وَإِنَّ مِنْ أُمَّتِي لَمَنْ يَعْظُمُ لِلنَّارِ حَتَّى يَكُونَ أَحَدَ زَوَايَاهَا وَإِنَّ مِنْ أُمَّتِي لَمَنْ يَدْخُلُ بِشَفَاعَتِهِ الْجَنَّةَ أَكْثَرُ مِنْ مُضَرَ
Narrated from Sayyiduna Harith bin Uqaysh (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If four children of a Muslim husband and wife die, Allah Almighty will admit them into Paradise. The people asked: O Messenger of Allah! What if there are three? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Even if there are three. The people asked: O Messenger of Allah! What if there are two? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Even if there are two. And indeed, there will be individuals in my Ummah for whom the Fire will be made so vast that they will become a corner of it, and there will be individuals in my Ummah by whose intercession more people will enter Paradise than the number of people in the tribe of Mudar.
Hadith 9410
عَنْ أَبِي ثَعْلَبَةَ الْأَشْجَعِيِّ قَالَ قُلْتُ مَاتَ لِي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَلَدَانِ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ فَقَالَ مَنْ مَاتَ لَهُ وَلَدَانِ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ أَدْخَلَهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ الْجَنَّةَ بِفَضْلِ رَحْمَتِهِ إِيَّاهُمَا فَلَمَّا كَانَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ لَقِيَنِي أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ فَقَالَ أَنْتَ الَّذِي قَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ فِي الْوَلَدَيْنِ مَا قَالَ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَقَالَ لَأَنْ يَكُونَ قَالَهُ لَهُ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِمَّا غُلِّقَتْ عَلَيْهِ حِمْصُ وَفِلَسْطِينُ
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Tha’labah Ashja’i (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I said, O Messenger of Allah! Two of my children have died in Islam. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Whoever’s two children die in Islam, Allah Almighty, out of mercy for those children, will also admit that person into Paradise. Later, when Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) met me, he said to me: Are you the man to whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gave glad tidings regarding the parents? I said: Yes. He said: If the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had said this for me, it would have been dearer to me than those things for which Homs and Palestine were closed.
Hadith 9411
عَنْ صَعْصَعَةَ بْنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ أَبَا ذَرٍّ قُلْتُ مَا بَالُكَ قَالَ لِي عَمَلِي قُلْتُ حَدِّثْنِي قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمَيْنِ يَمُوتُ بَيْنَهُمَا ثَلَاثَةٌ مِنْ أَوْلَادِهِمَا لَمْ يَبْلُغُوا الْحِنْثَ إِلَّا غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهُمَا
Sa’sa’ah bin Mu’awiyah says: I came to Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: How are you? He said: I have my own concerns. I said: Narrate a hadith to me. He said: Yes, indeed. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If three minor children of a Muslim husband and wife die, Allah Almighty will forgive them.
Hadith 9412
عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ قَدَّمَ ثَلَاثَةً مِنْ وَلَدِهِ حَجَبُوهُ مِنَ النَّارِ
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever has sent three children ahead (i.e., who have died), they will become a barrier for him from Hell.
Hadith 9413
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمَيْنِ يَمُوتُ لَهُمَا ثَلَاثَةُ أَوْلَادٍ لَمْ يَبْلُغُوا الْحِنْثَ إِلَّا أَدْخَلَهُمَا اللَّهُ وَإِيَّاهُمْ بِفَضْلِ رَحْمَتِهِ الْجَنَّةَ وَقَالَ يُقَالُ لَهُمْ ادْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ قَالَ فَيَقُولُونَ حَتَّى يَجِيءَ أَبَوَانَا قَالَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ فَيَقُولُونَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ فَيُقَالُ لَهُمْ ادْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ أَنْتُمْ وَأَبَوَاكُمْ
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If three minor children of a Muslim husband and wife pass away, Allah Almighty, out of His great mercy, will admit them into Paradise along with their children. When it will be said to those children, "Enter Paradise," they will say, "Let our parents come (and then we will enter)." This will be said to them three times, and each time they will give the same reply. Finally, it will be said to them, "You and your parents, all of you, enter Paradise."
Hadith 9414
عَنْ أَبِي حَسَّانَ قَالَ تُوُفِّيَ ابْنَانِ لِي فَقُلْتُ لِأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَدِيثًا تُحَدِّثُنَاهُ يُطَيِّبُ أَنْفُسَنَا عَنْ مَوْتَانَا قَالَ نَعَمْ صِغَارُهُمْ دَعَامِيصُ الْجَنَّةِ يَلْقَى أَحَدُهُمْ أَبَاهُ أَوْ قَالَ أَبَوَيْهِ فَيَأْخُذُ بِنَاحِيَةِ ثَوْبِهِ أَوْ يَدِهِ كَمَا آخُذُ بِصَنَفَةِ ثَوْبِكَ هَذَا فَلَا يُفَارِقُهُ حَتَّى يُدْخِلَهُ اللَّهُ وَأَبَاهُ الْجَنَّةَ
Abu Hassan says: My two sons passed away, so I said to Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him): Narrate to us any hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that would comfort our souls regarding our deceased. He said: Yes, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The young children (of the believers) will be the little birds of Paradise (meaning, they will come and go in Paradise without restriction). Such a child will meet his father or his parents, will take hold of his hand, just as I have taken hold of the edge of your garment, and will not let go, until Allah, the Exalted, admits him and his father both into Paradise.
Hadith 9415
عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ قُرَّةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ رَجُلًا كَانَ يَأْتِي النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَمَعَهُ ابْنٌ لَهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَتُحِبُّهُ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَحَبَّكَ اللَّهُ كَمَا أُحِبُّهُ فَفَقَدَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ مَا فَعَلَ ابْنُ فُلَانٍ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَاتَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِأَبِيهِ أَمَا تُحِبُّ أَنْ لَا تَأْتِيَ بَابًا مِنْ أَبْوَابِ الْجَنَّةِ إِلَّا وَجَدْتَهُ يَنْتَظِرُكَ فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَلَهُ خَاصَّةً أَوْ لِكُلِّنَا قَالَ بَلْ لِكُلِّكُمْ
Sayyiduna Qurrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a man used to come to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and his child would be with him. One day, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Do you love him?" He replied: "O Messenger of Allah! May Allah love you as I love him." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) missed him and asked: "What happened to the son of so-and-so?" The people said: "O Messenger of Allah! He has passed away." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to his father: "Do you not like that whenever you come to any door of Paradise, you find your child waiting for you there?" A man asked: "O Messenger of Allah! Is this only for him or for all of us?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Why not, it is for all of you."
Hadith 9416
عَنْ حَسَّانَ بْنِ كُرَيْبٍ أَنَّ غُلَامًا مِنْهُمْ تُوُفِّيَ فَوَجَدَهُ عَلَيْهِ أَبَوَاهُ أَشَدَّ الْوَجْدِ فَقَالَ حَوْشَبُ صَاحِبُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِمَا سَمِعْتُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ فِي مِثْلِ ابْنِكَ أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ كَانَ لَهُ ابْنٌ قَدْ أَدَّبَهُ وَدَبَّ وَكَانَ يَأْتِي مَعَ أَبِيهِ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ إِنَّ ابْنَهُ تُوُفِّيَ فَوَجَدَهُ عَلَيْهِ أَبُوهُ قَرِيبًا مِنْ سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ لَا يَأْتِي النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ((لَا أَرَى فُلَانًا)) قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ ابْنَهُ تُوُفِّيَ فَوَجَدَ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ((يَا فُلَانُ أَتُحِبُّ لَوْ أَنَّ ابْنَكَ عِنْدَكَ الْآنَ كَانَ شَطِيَ الصِّبْيَانِ نَشَاطًا أَتُحِبُّ أَنَّ ابْنَكَ عِنْدَكَ أَجْرَى الْغِلْمَانِ جَرَاءَةً أَتُحِبُّ أَنَّ ابْنَكَ عِنْدَكَ كَهْلًا كَأَفْضَلِ الْكُهُولِ أَوْ يُقَالَ لَكَ ادْخُلِ الْجَنَّةَ ثَوَابَ مَا أُخِذَ مِنْكَ))
Hassan bin Kareeb says: A child among us passed away, and his parents were deeply grieved. The Companion of the Messenger of Allah, Sayyiduna Hoshab (may Allah be pleased with him), said: Shall I tell you what I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say regarding a son like your son? The details are as follows: There was a Companion who had a son; he had taught him manners, or the child was still crawling on the ground, dragging his hands and feet. That child used to come with his father to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Then it happened that the child passed away, and his father felt so much grief that he did not come to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for six days. One day, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: What is the reason that so-and-so is not seen? The people said: O Messenger of Allah! His child has passed away, and he is distressed because of it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O so-and-so! Tell me, do you wish that your child was with you now and was the most active among the children? Or do you wish that your child was the most courageous among the children? Or do you prefer that your child was a strong youth of thirty to fifty years? Or do you wish that on the Day of Resurrection it will be said to you: Enter Paradise as a reward for the child who was taken from you?
Hadith 9417
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ انْطَلَقَ حَارِثَةُ بْنُ عَمَّتِي يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ غُلَامًا نَظَّارًا مَا انْطَلَقَ لِلْقِتَالِ قَالَ فَأَصَابَهُ سَهْمٌ فَقَتَلَهُ قَالَ فَجَاءَتْ أُمُّهُ عَمَّتِي إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ابْنِي حَارِثَةُ إِنْ يَكُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ أَصْبِرُ وَأَحْتَسِبُ وَإِلَّا فَسَيَرَى اللَّهُ مَا أَصْنَعُ قَالَ ((يَا أُمَّ حَارِثَةَ إِنَّهَا جِنَانٌ كَثِيرَةٌ وَإِنَّ حَارِثَةَ فِي الْفِرْدَوْسِ الْأَعْلَى))
Narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: My maternal aunt’s son, Sayyiduna Haritha (may Allah be pleased with him), went with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on the day of Badr. This boy had gone to watch the battle, not to fight, but suddenly an arrow struck him and he was killed. So my aunt came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! My son Haritha (may Allah be pleased with him), if he is in Paradise, then I will be patient seeking reward, otherwise Allah will see what I do. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Umm Haritha! There are many gardens in Paradise, and indeed Haritha is in the highest Firdaus.
