Hadith 9344
عَنْ مُصْعَبِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَيُّ النَّاسِ أَشَدُّ بَلَاءً قَالَ الْأَنْبِيَاءُ ثُمَّ الصَّالِحُونَ ثُمَّ الْأَمْثَلُ فَالْأَمْثَلُ يُبْتَلَى الرَّجُلُ عَلَى حَسَبِ دِينِهِ فَإِنْ كَانَ فِي دِينِهِ صَلَابَةٌ زِيدَ فِي بَلَائِهِ وَإِنْ كَانَ فِي دِينِهِ رِقَّةٌ خُفِّفَ عَنْهُ وَمَا يَزَالُ الْبَلَاءُ بِالْعَبْدِ حَتَّى يَمْشِي عَلَى ظَهْرِ الْأَرْضِ لَيْسَ عَلَيْهِ خَطِيئَةٌ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I asked, “O Messenger of Allah! Which people are tested the most severely?” He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: “The Prophets, then the righteous, and then those who are better and superior to others. In fact, a person is tested according to his religion; if there is strength and firmness in his religion, his trial will be more severe, and if there is leniency and weakness in his religion, his trial will be lighter. And it also happens that a servant remains afflicted with trials until he walks upon the earth and there is no sin left upon him.”
