Hadith 9312
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin Aas (may Allah be pleased with them both), he says: One day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, while we were present with him: Glad tidings are for the strangers. Someone asked: Who are the strangers, O Messenger of Allah? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: They are the righteous people found among many evil people; those who obey them are fewer than those who disobey them. He says: On another day, the sun was rising while we were present with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On the Day of Resurrection, there will come people from my Ummah whose light will be like the light of the sun. We asked: O Messenger of Allah! Who will these people be? In one narration: Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! Are these people us? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No, and there is much good in you people as well. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: They are the poor emigrants, through whom undesirable things are avoided, and when one of them dies, his need is in his chest. These people will be gathered from different regions of the earth.

It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Indeed, the poor among the emigrants will precede the wealthy people by forty years on the Day of Resurrection. Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: If you wish, we can give you from our wealth, and if you wish, we can mention your case before the ruler. They said: We will be patient and will not ask anyone for anything.

Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I entered Paradise and heard a sound from in front of me. I asked, "What is this sound?" It was said, "This is Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him)." Then I moved forward and saw that most of the people in Paradise were the poor emigrants and the children of the Muslims, and the fewest were the wealthy people and women. Then it was told to me that the wealthy people are still being held accountable at the gate of Paradise and are being further scrutinized. As for the women, the two red things—gold and silk—had distracted them. Then we exited through one of the eight gates of Paradise. When I was at the gate, a scale was brought to me, and I was placed in one pan and my Ummah in the other pan. I outweighed them. Then Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) was brought and placed in one pan and the rest of the Ummah in the other; the pan with Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) outweighed. Then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was brought and placed in one pan and the rest of the Ummah in the other; Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) outweighed. Then each individual of my Ummah was presented, and they kept passing forward. I found Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) slow and lagging behind in this matter. Then, after he had almost lost hope, he came. I said, "Abdur Rahman!" He said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah! May my parents be sacrificed for you. By the One Who sent you with the truth, before reaching you, I began to think that I would never be able to see you, except after a long time." I said, "Why is that?" He said, "Because of the abundance of my wealth, I was being held accountable and further scrutinized."

It is narrated from Abbas bin Salim Lakhmi that Umar bin Abdul Aziz sent for Abu Salam Habashi, and he was brought to him through a messenger. Umar bin Abdul Aziz wanted to hear a hadith from him about the Hawd (the Prophet’s Pond). So he was brought to him. Umar bin Abdul Aziz asked him, and he replied: I heard Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) narrate that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The expanse of my Hawd is from Aden to Amman Balqa. Its water is whiter than snow and sweeter than honey. Its cups are as numerous as the stars. Whoever drinks from it will never feel thirsty again. The first to come to it will be the poor Muhajirun (Emigrants). Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: O Messenger of Allah! Who are they? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: They are those whose hair is disheveled, whose clothes are dirty, who cannot marry well-off women, and for whom closed doors are not opened. Upon hearing this, Umar bin Abdul Aziz said: I have married well-off women and closed doors have been opened for me, unless Allah has mercy on me. By Allah! There is no doubt that I do not apply oil to my head until it becomes disheveled, and I do not wash the clothes I wear until they become dirty.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna ‘Aidh bin ‘Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Salman, Sayyiduna Suhaib, and Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with them) were sitting among some people when Sayyiduna Abu Sufyan bin Harb (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by. These people said: “The swords of Allah have not fulfilled their due in taking the neck of the enemy of Allah.” Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “Do you say this about a chief and elder of the Quraysh? (Be mindful).” Then, when the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was informed of all this, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “O Abu Bakr! Perhaps you have angered them, and if you have angered them, then your Lord will also be angry with you.” Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) returned to them and said: “O our brothers! Perhaps you are angry with me?” They said: “No, O Abu Bakr! May Allah forgive you.”
