Hadith 9265
Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: My Lord presented to me that He would turn the valley of Batha in Makkah into gold for me, but I said: No, O my Lord! I will be satiated one day and hungry another day; when I am hungry, I will express helplessness and need before You and remember You, and when I am satiated, I will praise You and give thanks to You.
Hadith 9266
Narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, he says: I went to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, while he was lying on a bed made of woven rope, and under his head was a leather pillow stuffed with palm fibers. Meanwhile, a group of companions also came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, also entered. When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, turned to one side and Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, saw that there was no cloth between the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and the rope, and the rope had left marks on his side, he began to weep. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Umar! Why are you weeping? He said: By Allah! The reason for my weeping is that I know that, compared to Kisra and Caesar, you are more honored and respected in the sight of Allah Almighty, but they are enjoying the wealth and riches of the world, and O Messenger of Allah! You are in this condition that I am seeing. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Are you not pleased that these things are for them in this world and for us in the Hereafter? Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said: Why not. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Then so it is.
Hadith 9267
Syedna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, left his wives for a month. Then Syedna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, while he was sitting in an upper room on a mat that had left its marks on his back. Syedna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said: O Messenger of Allah! People like Kisra drink from vessels of gold and silver, and you are in this condition. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, said: Their good deeds have been hastened for them in this world.
Hadith 9268
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was lying on a mat which had left its marks on his side. He (Umar) said: O Prophet of Allah! If you would take a softer and more comfortable bedding, it would be better. But he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: What have I to do with this world? My example and the example of this world is like that of a rider who is traveling on a hot day and takes shelter under the shade of a tree for a short time during the day, and then leaves it and moves on.
Hadith 9269
Sayyiduna Amr bin Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: You have begun to desire things morning and evening, from which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to abstain; you have become inclined towards the world, whereas the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to keep away from it. By Allah! Every coming night, the amount the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had to give as debt was greater than what he had to take. Some companions said: Indeed, we also saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) taking loans. Narrators other than Yahya said: By Allah! Three days would not pass except that the amount the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had to give as debt was greater than what he had to take.
Hadith 9270
(Second chain) Sayyiduna Amr ibn al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) while addressing in Egypt said: What has distanced your way of life from the conduct of your Prophet! He (peace and blessings be upon him) was the most disinterested in the world, but you are the most desirous of it.
Hadith 9271
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: It was evening, I was walking with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the Harrah of Madinah Munawwarah and we were looking towards the mountain of Uhud. At that moment, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Abu Dharr! I said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah! I am present. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If the mountain of Uhud were turned into gold for me, I would not wish that by the evening of the third day any dinar from it should remain with me, except for that dinar which I would keep for repaying a debt. I would distribute it among the servants of Allah in such and such a way. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) scooped with his hands and threw to the right, to the left, and in front. Then we moved ahead, then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Abu Dharr! Indeed, those who possess much wealth will be the ones with little good deeds on the Day of Resurrection, except for the one who distributed his wealth in this way, this way, and this way. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) illustrated by gesturing with handfuls to the right, to the left, and in front. Then we moved further ahead and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Abu Dharr! Remain standing here until I return. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went away until he disappeared from me, but when I heard some noise and voices, I thought perhaps the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had encountered some issue. I intended to go after him, but then I remembered the words of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that you are to remain here until I return. So I kept waiting. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned, I mentioned to him the voices I had heard. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: That was Jibreel (peace be upon him), he came to me and said: Whoever from your Ummah dies in such a state that he does not associate anything with Allah, he will enter Paradise. I said: Even if he commits adultery and theft? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Even if he commits adultery and theft.
Hadith 9272
(The second chain) The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: O Abu Dharr! What mountain is this? I said: It is the mountain of Uhud, O Messenger of Allah! He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: If (this mountain) were to be turned into gold coins for me, I would spend it in the way of Allah, and it would not please me that even a single qirat from it remains. I said: O Messenger of Allah! A qintar? He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Qirat, qirat. He said it three times, then said: O Abu Dharr! I am talking about the lesser amount, not the greater.
Hadith 9273
(Third chain) The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If the Mount Uhud were turned into gold for me, it would not please me that on the day of my death there should remain with me a dinar or even half a dinar, except for that amount which I keep aside for the repayment of a debt.
Hadith 9274
Abu Asma says: I went to Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) while he was at the place of Rabdha, and a black woman was sitting beside him, on whom there was no trace of saffron or perfume. He said: Do you not see what this black woman is commanding me to do? She tells me to go to Iraq, and if I go to Iraq, people will be inclined towards me with their worldly matters, whereas my beloved (peace and blessings be upon him) had informed me that before the Bridge of Sirat over Hell, there is a slippery path, and we have to pass through it. If we are light of burdens, it is more likely that we will be saved from there, as compared to if we go there burdened.
Hadith 9275
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent him towards Yemen, he said: Beware of luxury, for indeed the servants of Allah are not luxurious.
Hadith 9276
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Usaib (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) went out one night, when he passed by me, he called me, so I went out. Then when he (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), he called him too, so he also came. When he (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), he called him too and he also came. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) proceeded until he entered a garden belonging to an Ansari and said to the owner of the garden: Serve us some half-ripe dates. So he brought a bunch and placed it down. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and his companions ate from it. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for cold water and drank it and said: You will surely, surely be questioned about this blessing on the Day of Resurrection. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) took the bunch and struck it on the ground, causing the half-ripe dates to fall towards the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Then he said: O Messenger of Allah! Will we be questioned about these on the Day of Resurrection? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes, absolutely, except for three things: (1) That rag or patch with which a servant covers his private parts, (2) That piece (of bread, etc.) with which a servant satisfies his hunger, and (3) That small room in which a servant enters to protect himself from heat and cold.
Hadith 9277
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with them both, who says: The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr and Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, came to me. I served them fresh dates and gave them water to drink. The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: These are among the blessings about which you will be questioned.
