Hadith 9247
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَنْبَأَنَا عَاصِمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا (قَالَ لَا أَعْلَمُهُ إِلَّا رَفَعَهُ) قَالَ يَقُولُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى مَنْ تَوَاضَعَ لِي هَكَذَا (وَجَعَلَ يَزِيدُ بَاطِنَ كَفَّيْهِ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ وَأَدْنَاهَا إِلَى الْأَرْضِ) رَفَعْتُهُ هَكَذَا وَجَعَلَ بَاطِنَ كَفِّهِ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ وَرَفَعَهَا نَحْوَ السَّمَاءِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stated that Allah Almighty said: Whoever humbles himself for My sake in this manner—then Yazid, the narrator, turned his palm towards the ground and brought it close to the earth—I, Allah, will raise him up in this way—then the narrator turned the back of his hand towards the sky and raised it towards the heavens.
Hadith 9248
عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَنْ تَوَاضَعَ لِلَّهِ دَرَجَةً رَفَعَهُ اللَّهُ دَرَجَةً حَتَّى يَجْعَلَهُ فِي عِلِّيِّينَ وَمَنْ تَكَبَّرَ عَلَى اللَّهِ دَرَجَةً وَضَعَهُ اللَّهُ دَرَجَةً حَتَّى يَجْعَلَهُ فِي أَسْفَلِ السَّافِلِينَ
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever adopts one degree of humility for the sake of Allah, Allah will raise him by that degree so much that He will take him to 'Illiyyin, and whoever shows one degree of arrogance towards Allah, Allah will lower him by that degree so much that He will make him the lowest and most despicable.
Hadith 9249
عَنْ شُرَيْحِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كَانَ عُتْبَةُ يَقُولُ عِرْبَاضٌ خَيْرٌ مِنِّي وَعِرْبَاضٌ يَقُولُ عُقْبَةُ خَيْرٌ مِنِّي سَبَقَنِي إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِسَنَةٍ
It is narrated from Shurayh bin Ubaid that Sayyiduna Utbah (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say: Sayyiduna Irbad (may Allah be pleased with him) was better than me, and Sayyiduna Irbad (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say: Sayyiduna Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with him) was better than me; he reached the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) one year before me.
Hadith 9250
عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّهُ قَالَ مَنْ تَرَكَ أَنْ يَلْبَسَ صَالِحَ الثِّيَابِ وَهُوَ يَقْدِرُ عَلَيْهِ تَوَاضُعًا لِلَّهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى دَعَاهُ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى عَلَى رُءُوسِ الْخَلَائِقِ حَتَّى يُخَيِّرَهُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى فِي حُلَلِ الْإِيمَانِ أَيَّتَهُنَّ شَاءَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Anas al-Juhani, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Whoever, out of humility for Allah, does not wear fine clothes even though he is able to do so, Allah Almighty will call him before all of creation and give him the choice to wear whichever garment of faith he likes.
Hadith 9251
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ وَمَا تَوَاضَعَ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا رَفَعَهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ
Syedna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: And whoever adopts humility, Allah Almighty will elevate him.
