Hadith 9222
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said one day: Be shy of Allah as is His due. We said: O Messenger of Allah! All praise is for Allah, indeed we are shy before Him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The matter is not as you have understood. Whoever wants to be truly shy before Allah should protect his head and what it contains, and protect his stomach and what it encompasses, and remember death and decay, and whoever intends the Hereafter should leave the adornment of the world. Whoever does so has been shy before Allah as is His due.

Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Modesty is from faith, and faith leads to Paradise; and foul speech and bad language are from harshness and bad character, and harshness leads to the Fire.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Modesty and inability to speak are two branches of faith, and foul speech and ability to speak are two branches of hypocrisy.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Modesty brings nothing but goodness and virtue. Basheer bin Ka’b said: It is written in wisdom that some forms of modesty are a cause of dignity and some a cause of tranquility. Sayyiduna Imran (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I am narrating to you from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and you are narrating from your scriptures.
Hadith 9231
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Modesty is entirely goodness and virtue. Busheer said: In some forms of modesty there is weakness and in some there is humility, but he said: I narrate to you from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and you present things contrary to the hadiths. From now on, as long as I recognize you, I will not narrate even a single hadith to you. However, people said: He is a man of good nature and he has such and such qualities as well. In any case, people kept counting his attributes until Sayyiduna Imran (may Allah be pleased with him) became calm and began narrating hadiths.
