Hadith 9152
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَلَا أُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِخِيَارِكُمْ قَالُوا بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ خِيَارُكُمْ أَطْوَلُكُمْ أَعْمَارًا وَأَحْسَنُكُمْ أَخْلَاقًا
Syedna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Shall I not inform you about the most beloved people? The people said: Yes, why not, O Messenger of Allah! He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The best among you are those whose lives are long and whose character is good.
Hadith 9153
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَكْمَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ إِيمَانًا أَحْسَنُهُمْ خُلُقًا وَخِيَارُهُمْ خِيَارُهُمْ لِنِسَائِهِمْ
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) also narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Among the believers, those who have the most perfect faith are those who have the best character, and the best among them are those who are best to their wives.
Hadith 9154
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا قَالَ سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ أَكْثَرِ مَا يَلِجُ النَّاسُ بِهِ النَّارَ فَقَالَ الْأَجْوَفَانِ الْفَمُ وَالْفَرْجُ وَسُئِلَ عَنْ أَكْثَرِ مَا يَلِجُ بِهِ النَّاسُ الْجَنَّةَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ حُسْنُ الْخُلُقِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked: "What is the main reason that causes people to enter the Fire the most?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "The two hollow things, that is, the mouth and the private parts." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked: "By which deed do most people enter Paradise?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Good character."
Hadith 9155
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنِّي بُعِثْتُ لِأُتَمِّمَ صَالِحَ الْأَخْلَاقِ
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Indeed, I have been sent for the purpose of perfecting noble character.
Hadith 9156
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ مِنْ أَحَبِّكُمْ إِلَيَّ أَحْسَنَكُمْ خُلُقًا
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Indeed, the most beloved of you to me is the one who has the best character among you.
Hadith 9157
عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِأَحَبِّكُمْ إِلَيَّ وَأَقْرَبِكُمْ مِنِّي مَجْلِسًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَسَكَتَ الْقَوْمُ فَأَعَادَهَا مَرَّتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا قَالَ الْقَوْمُ نَعَمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ أَحْسَنُكُمْ خُلُقًا
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Shall I not tell you about the person who will be the most beloved to me and the closest to me on the Day of Resurrection? The people remained silent. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) repeated this two or three times. Then the people said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The one who has the best character.
Hadith 9158
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ الْمُسْلِمَ الْمُسَدِّدَ لَيُدْرِكُ دَرَجَةَ الصَّوَّامِ الْقَوَّامِ بِآيَاتِ اللَّهِ بِحُسْنِ خُلُقِهِ وَكَرَمِ ضَرِيبَتِهِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Indeed, a Muslim who walks the path of moderation and constancy, due to his good character and natural forgiveness and forbearance, attains the rank of that person who fasts abundantly and stands much in prayer with the verses of Allah Almighty.
Hadith 9159
عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيُدْرِكُ بِحُسْنِ الْخُلُقِ دَرَجَةَ الصَّائِمِ الْقَائِمِ (وَفِي لَفْظٍ) دَرَجَاتِ قَائِمِ اللَّيْلِ صَائِمِ النَّهَارِ
Narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Indeed, a person attains the rank of one who stands in prayer at night and fasts during the day through good character.
Hadith 9160
عَنْهَا أَيْضًا قَالَتْ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ (وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ) كَانَ يَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ أَحْسَنْتَ خَلْقِي فَأَحْسِنْ خُلُقِي
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to supplicate: "O Allah! You have made my creation beautiful, so beautify my character as well."
Hadith 9161
عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَتَذَاكَرُ مَا يَكُونُ إِذْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِجَبَلٍ زَالَ عَنْ مَكَانِهِ فَصَدِّقُوا وَإِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِرَجُلٍ تَغَيَّرَ عَنْ خُلُقِهِ فَلَا تُصَدِّقُوا بِهِ وَإِنَّهُ يَصِيرُ إِلَى مَا جُبِلَ عَلَيْهِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Darda’ (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: We were discussing future events in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when he said: When you hear that a mountain has moved from its place, then verify it, but when you hear that a man's character has changed, do not verify this, because he will soon return to the character upon which his nature was created.
Hadith 9162
عَنْ أَبِي ثَعْلَبَةَ الْخُشَنِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ أَحَبَّكُمْ إِلَيَّ وَأَقْرَبَكُمْ مِنِّي فِي الْآخِرَةِ مَحَاسِنُكُمْ أَخْلَاقًا وَإِنَّ أَبْغَضَكُمْ إِلَيَّ وَأَبْعَدَكُمْ مِنِّي فِي الْآخِرَةِ مَسَاوِيكُمْ أَخْلَاقًا الثَّرْثَارُونَ الْمُتَفَيْهِقُونَ الْمُتَشَدِّقُونَ
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Tha’labah Khushani (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The most beloved of you to me and the closest to me on the Day of Resurrection will be those among you who have the best character, and the most disliked of you to me and the farthest from me on the Day of Resurrection will be those who have bad character, are talkative without purpose, are arrogant, and twist their mouths while speaking.
Hadith 9163
عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ شَرِيكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَيُّ النَّاسِ خَيْرٌ قَالَ أَحْسَنُهُمْ خُلُقًا
Sayyiduna Usama bin Sharik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a Bedouin came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! Which people are the best? He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: Those who have the best character.
Hadith 9164
عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كُنْتُ فِي مَجْلِسٍ فِيهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ وَأَبِي سَمُرَةُ جَالِسٌ أَمَامِي فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ الْفُحْشَ وَالتَّفَحُّشَ لَيْسَا مِنَ الْإِسْلَامِ وَإِنَّ أَحْسَنَ النَّاسِ إِسْلَامًا أَحْسَنُهُمْ خُلُقًا
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I was sitting in a gathering in which the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was also present, and my father Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) was sitting in front of me. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Indeed, foul language and abuse are not from Islam, and in terms of Islam, the best people are those whose character is the best.
Hadith 9165
عَنْ مُعَاذٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَهُ يَا مُعَاذُ اتْبِعِ السَّيِّئَةَ بِالْحَسَنَةِ تَمْحُهَا وَخَالِقِ النَّاسَ بِخُلُقٍ حَسَنٍ
Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Mu'adh! Do good deeds after committing a bad deed, so that it may erase it, and behave with people with good manners.
Hadith 9166
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ حَبِيبٍ عَنْ مَيْمُونِ بْنِ أَبِي شَبِيبٍ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَهُ ((اتَّقِ اللَّهَ حَيْثُمَا كُنْتَ وَأَتْبِعِ السَّيِّئَةَ الْحَسَنَةَ تَمْحُهَا وَخَالِقِ النَّاسَ بِخُلُقٍ حَسَنٍ)) قَالَ وَكِيعٌ وَقَالَ سُفْيَانُ مَرَّةً عَنْ مُعَاذٍ فَوَجَدْتُ فِي كِتَابِي عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ وَهُوَ السَّمَاعُ الْأَوَّلُ
Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Fear Allah wherever you are, and follow up a bad deed with a good one so that it may erase it, and behave with people with good character. Mu'adh, the narrator, said: I found the words "from Abu Dharr" in my book, and this was the first hearing.
Hadith 9167
عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ((إِنَّ أَفْضَلَ شَيْءٍ فِي الْمِيزَانِ قَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي بُكَيْرٍ أَثْقَلَ شَيْءٍ فِي الْمِيزَانِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الْخُلُقُ الْحَسَنُ))
Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On the Day of Judgment, the most virtuous thing in the scale—and according to another narration, the heaviest thing—will be good character.
Hadith 9168
عَنْ أُمِّ الدَّرْدَاءِ عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَبْلُغُ بِهِ ((مَنْ أُعْطِيَ حَظَّهُ مِنَ الرِّفْقِ أُعْطِيَ حَظَّهُ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ وَلَيْسَ شَيْءٌ أَثْقَلَ فِي الْمِيزَانِ مِنَ الْخُلُقِ الْحَسَنِ))
Sayyida Umm Darda (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates from Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Whoever has been given a portion of gentleness with abundance, has been given his portion of goodness, and there is no deed that is heavier in the scale than good character.
