It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Which deed is the best?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "That you feed others and greet everyone, whether you know them or not."
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should honor his guest; whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should protect his neighbor; likewise, whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should speak good or remain silent.
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should honor his guest. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said this three times. The people asked: O Messenger of Allah! What is the honor of the guest? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Three days, and if he stays after that, then hospitality for him will be charity.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There is no good in the person who does not show hospitality to guests.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Malik bin Nadlah, may Allah be pleased with him, who says: I said, "O Messenger of Allah! I went to a man, he neither hosted me nor honored me. Then if that same man comes to me, should I host him or repay him for what he did?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Rather, you should host him.
The companion of the Messenger, Sayyiduna Sinan bin Sanneh (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: The reward of the grateful eater is like that of the one who fasts and is patient.
