Hadith 9049
۔ عَنْ عَلِیٍّ رضی اللہ عنہ عَنِ النَّبِیِّ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم قَالَ: ((مَنْ سَرَّہُ اَنْ یُمَدَّ لَہُ فِیْ عُمُرِہِ وَیُوْسَعَ لَہُ فِیْ رِزْقِہِ، وَیُدَفَعَ عَنْہُ مِیْتَۃُ السُّوْئِ، فَلْیَتَّقِ اللّٰہَ، وَلْیَصِلْ رَحِمَہُ۔))
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever likes that his life be prolonged, his sustenance be increased, and an evil death be kept away from him, then he should fear Allah and maintain ties of kinship.
Hadith 9050
۔ عَنْ اَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِکٍ رضی اللہ عنہ ، عَنِ النَّبِیِّ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم مِثْلُہُ۔
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) has also narrated a similar type of Prophetic hadith.
Hadith 9051
عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَحْوُهُ
Mawla of the Messenger, Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him), has also narrated a similar hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family).
Hadith 9052
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ تَعَلَّمُوا مِنْ أَنْسَابِكُمْ مَا تَصِلُونَ بِهِ أَرْحَامَكُمْ فَإِنَّ صِلَةَ الرَّحِمِ مَحَبَّةٌ فِي الْأَهْلِ مَثْرَاةٌ فِي الْمَالِ مَنْشَأَةٌ فِي أَثَرِهِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Acquire enough knowledge of your lineage so that you may establish ties of kinship among yourselves, for maintaining ties of kinship creates love among relatives, brings blessings in wealth, and increases lifespan.
Hadith 9053
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا يَبْلُغُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ الرَّاحِمُونَ يَرْحَمُهُمُ الرَّحْمَنُ ارْحَمُوا أَهْلَ الْأَرْضِ يَرْحَمْكُمْ أَهْلُ السَّمَاءِ وَالرَّحِمُ شَجْنَةٌ مِنَ الرَّحْمَنِ مَنْ وَصَلَهَا وَصَلْتُهُ وَمَنْ قَطَعَهَا بَتَتُّهُ
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The Most Merciful shows mercy to those who maintain ties of kinship; show mercy to those on earth, and those in the heavens will show mercy to you. The bond of kinship is a branch of the Most Merciful; whoever maintains it, I maintain him, and whoever severs it, I sever him.
Hadith 9054
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ الرَّحِمَ مُعَلَّقَةٌ بِالْعَرْشِ وَلَيْسَ الْوَاصِلُ بِالْمُكَافِئِ وَلَكِنَّ الْوَاصِلَ الَّذِي إِذَا انْقَطَعَتْ رَحِمُهُ وَصَلَهَا
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr, may Allah be pleased with them both, also narrates that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Maintaining ties of kinship is hanging with the Throne, and the person who maintains ties only in return (is not truly) maintaining ties of kinship (in its original and perfect degree). The one who truly maintains ties of kinship is he who joins it when it is being severed."
Hadith 9055
عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ لِي ذَوِي أَرْحَامٍ أَصِلُ وَيَقْطَعُونَنِي وَأَعْفُو وَيَظْلِمُونَنِي وَأُحْسِنُ وَيُسِيئُونَنِي أَفَأُكَافِئُهُمْ قَالَ لَا إِذًا تُتْرَكُونَ جَمِيعًا وَلَكِنْ خُذْ بِالْفَضْلِ وَصِلْهُمْ فَإِنَّهُ لَنْ يَزَالَ مَعَكَ ظَهِيرٌ مِنَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مَا كُنْتَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that a man came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! I have some relatives; I maintain ties with them but they sever ties with me, I forgive them but they wrong me, and I do good to them but they treat me badly. Can I then repay them for these actions? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No, then you would all be left alone. You should continue to perform the virtuous deed and maintain ties with them. Indeed, as long as you remain upon this routine, there will be a helper from Allah Almighty with you.
Hadith 9056
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَجُلًا قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ لِي قَرَابَةً أَصِلُهُمْ وَيَقْطَعُونَ وَأُحْسِنُ إِلَيْهِمْ وَيُسِيئُونَ إِلَيَّ وَأَحْلُمُ عَنْهُمْ وَيَجْهَلُونَ عَلَيَّ قَالَ لَئِنْ كُنْتَ كَمَا تَقُولُ كَأَنَّمَا تُسِفُّهُمُ الْمَلَّ وَلَا يَزَالُ مَعَكَ مِنَ اللَّهِ ظَهِيرٌ عَلَيْهِمْ مَا دُمْتَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ
Syedna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a man said: O Messenger of Allah! I have some relatives; I maintain ties with them, but they sever relations with me. I do good to them, but they treat me badly, and I deal with them patiently, but they act ignorantly towards me. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If it is as you say, then it is as if you are feeding them hot ashes, and as long as you remain steadfast in this action, there will be a helper from Allah Almighty with you against their opposition.
Hadith 9057
عَنْ دُرَّةَ بِنْتِ أَبِي لَهَبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ قَامَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَيُّ النَّاسِ خَيْرٌ فَقَالَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَيْرُ النَّاسِ أَقْرَؤُهُمْ وَأَتْقَاهُمْ وَآمَرُهُمْ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَأَنْهَاهُمْ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ وَأَوْصَلُهُمْ لِلرَّحِمِ
It is narrated from Sayyida Durrah bint Abi Lahab (may Allah be pleased with her) that a man came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was on the pulpit, and said: O Messenger of Allah! Which people are the best? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: The best among the people is the one who recites the Qur'an the most, has the most piety, commands good the most, forbids evil the most, and maintains the ties of kinship the most.
Hadith 9058
عَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ حِزَامٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الصَّدَقَاتِ أَيُّهَا أَفْضَلُ قَالَ عَلَى ذِي الرَّحِمِ الْكَاشِحِ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Hakim bin Hizam (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about charity, saying: "Which charity is the best?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "To that relative who harbors enmity in his heart."
Hadith 9059
عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلُهُ
Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) also narrates a similar hadith of the Prophet.
Hadith 9060
وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا أَنَّ أَعْرَابِيًّا عَرَضَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ فِي مَسِيرِهِ فَأَخَذَ بِخِطَامِ نَاقَتِهِ أَوْ بِزِمَامِ نَاقَتِهِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَوْ يَا مُحَمَّدُ أَخْبِرْنِي بِمَا يُقَرِّبُنِي مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ وَيُبَاعِدُنِي مِنَ النَّارِ قَالَ تَعْبُدُ اللَّهَ وَلَا تُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئًا وَتُقِيمُ الصَّلَاةَ وَتُؤْتِي الزَّكَاةَ وَتَصِلُ الرَّحِمَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that a Bedouin came before the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and held the reins of his camel while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was on a journey, and he said: O Messenger of Allah! Or he said: O Muhammad! Tell me of an action that will bring me near to Paradise and keep me far from the Fire. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Worship Allah, do not associate anything with Him, establish prayer, pay zakat, and maintain ties of kinship.
Hadith 9061
عَنْ سَلْمَانَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ الضَّبِّيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ صَدَقَتُكَ عَلَى الْمِسْكِينِ صَدَقَةٌ وَعَلَى ذِي الْقُرْبَى الرَّحِمِ ثِنْتَانِ صَدَقَةٌ وَصِلَةٌ
Sayyiduna Salman bin Amir Dhabbi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Giving charity to a poor person earns only the reward of charity, but giving to a relative earns two rewards: one for charity and one for maintaining family ties.
Hadith 9062
عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَهَا إِنَّهُ مَنْ أُعْطِيَ مِنَ الرِّفْقِ فَقَدْ أُعْطِيَ حَظَّهُ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ وَصِلَةُ الرَّحِمِ وَحُسْنُ الْخُلُقِ وَحُسْنُ الْجِوَارِ يَعْمُرَانِ الدِّيَارَ وَيَزِيدَانِ فِي الْأَعْمَارِ
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: Whoever is granted gentleness, has been bestowed with goodness and well-being of this world and the Hereafter. And acts of goodness such as maintaining family ties, good character, and treating neighbors well, populate homes (and tribes) and increase lifespans.
