It is narrated from Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The most virtuous dinar is the one which a servant spends on his children, and it is the dinar which a man spends on his riding animal in the way of Allah. Then Abu Qilabah, while speaking about treating children well, said from himself: And who can be greater in reward and recompense than the person who spends on his small children, and thus Allah Almighty keeps them chaste through him.

Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! Now I have grown old, my bones have become weak, and I have endured much hardship, so if you deem it appropriate, please order for me a certain amount of grain. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: We will do so. Then Sayyiduna Zaid bin Haritha (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! You had given me a piece of land, which was my means of livelihood, but then you took it back; if you deem it appropriate, please give it to me again. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: We will do so. Then I said: O Messenger of Allah! If you deem it appropriate, appoint me as the guardian of that right which Allah Almighty has mentioned in His Book in the form of khumus, so that I may distribute it during your lifetime, so that after you no one may dispute with me about it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: We will do so. Thus, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) appointed me as its guardian, and I distributed it during his blessed life. Then Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) appointed me as its guardian, and I distributed it during his lifetime as well. Then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) appointed me as its guardian, and I distributed it during his lifetime, until it was the last year of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and a great amount of wealth came to him.

Narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: Among the Ansar of Madinah Munawwarah, Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) was the wealthiest, and his most beloved wealth was the garden of Birha’, which was in front of the mosque. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to enter it and drink its sweet water. When this verse was revealed: {لَنْ تَنَالُوْا الْبِرَّ حَتّٰی تُنْفِقُوْا مِمَّا تُحِبُّوْنَ} … “You will never attain righteousness until you spend from that which you love,” Sayyiduna Abu Talhah said: O Messenger of Allah! Allah Almighty says: {لَنْ تَنَالُوْا الْبِرَّ حَتّٰی تُنْفِقُوْا مِمَّا تُحِبُّوْنَ} and my most beloved wealth is Birha’, so I give it in charity for the sake of Allah Almighty, and I hope for its goodness and treasure with Him. O Messenger of Allah! Distribute it as Allah gives you the ability. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Wonderful, wonderful! This is profitable wealth, this is profitable wealth. Indeed, I have heard what you have said, and I think you should distribute it among your relatives. Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! I will do so. Then he distributed that wealth among his relatives and paternal cousins.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: Do you have children? I said: Just as I was leaving to come to you, a child was born to me from the womb of Bint Jamd, and I wish that instead of this child, people would eat their fill of food. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Never say such a thing, because some children become the coolness of the eyes, and when they pass away, there is reward (for the parents). Yet, if you say such a thing, these children become a cause of cowardice and grief; indeed, they become a cause of cowardice and grief.
Hadith 9027

Umar bin Abdul Aziz says: A woman, Sayyida Khawla bint Hakim (may Allah be pleased with her), thinks that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came out carrying one of his daughter's two sons in his lap and he (peace and blessings be upon him) was saying: By Allah! You make one cowardly and miserly, while you are also a fragrant thing created by Allah, and by the command of Allah, the last battle, Wajj, that is, in Taif, took place.

Abdullah, the son of Imam Ahmad, said: My father did not include this hadith in his Musnad because of the narrator Nasih, as he is weak in hadith, and he dictated it to me in Nawadir.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Nu’man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with both of them), he says: My father, Sayyiduna Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him), gave me a gift. My mother demanded from him that he make the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) a witness to this gift. So he took my hand and set out with me until we reached the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He said: O Messenger of Allah! The mother of this child first demanded from me that I give him a gift, and now her demand is that I make you a witness to it, so I have come to you to make you a witness. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Wait a moment, do you have any other children? He said: Yes. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then have you given each of them this gift? He said: No. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then there is no need to make me a witness, I cannot be a witness to injustice. It is the right of your sons over you that you do justice among them.
Hadith 9032
In one narration, it is stated that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then appoint someone other than me as a witness. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Does it not please you that your children should do good to you equally? They replied: Yes, of course. In another narration, it is stated: Your children have this right over you that you deal justly among them, just as you have the right over them that they all do good to you.
Hadith 9033
Sayyiduna Nu’man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with both of them) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Treat your sons equally. In another narration: Be just among your sons, act with justice among your children, adopt an attitude of equality between your sons and daughters.
Hadith 9034
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Aqra’ (may Allah be pleased with him) saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) kissing Sayyiduna Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: I have ten children, and I have not kissed any of them. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Whoever does not show mercy will not be shown mercy.
Hadith 9035
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) also narrates that Sayyiduna ‘Uyainah bin Hisn (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and saw that he (peace and blessings be upon him) was kissing Sayyiduna Hasan or Sayyiduna Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them). He said: O Messenger of Allah! Do not kiss them; I have ten children and I have never kissed any of them. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever does not show mercy will not be shown mercy.
