It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Darda, he says: I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reciting this verse on the pulpit: {وَلِمَنْخَافَمَقَامَرَبِّہِجَنَّتَانِ۔} … And for the one who fears standing before his Lord, there are two gardens. I said: O Messenger of Allah! Even if he commits adultery and theft? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) repeated: And for the one who fears standing before his Lord, there are two gardens. I also repeated: O Messenger of Allah! Even if he commits adultery and theft? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited the same verse a third time: And for the one who fears standing before his Lord, there are two gardens. I also asked the same question a third time: O Messenger of Allah! Even if he commits adultery and theft? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes, even if Abu Darda’s nose becomes dust-covered.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdad bin Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: After hearing a hadith of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), I do not make any judgment about the goodness or evil of any person until I see on which deed his life ends. Someone asked: Which hadith have you heard? I said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: The heart of the son of Adam turns more frequently than a pot that is boiling completely.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to frequently make this supplication: … “O Turner of the hearts! Keep my heart firm upon Your religion.” The companions and family members of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Messenger of Allah! Do you fear for us, even though we have believed in you and in the Shari’ah you have brought? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: Indeed, all hearts are in the hand of Allah Almighty; He turns them as He wills.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty had bestowed great blessings in the wealth and property of a man before you, to the extent that his era passed and a new era began. So when the time of his death approached, he said: How did you find me as a father? They said: The best father. He said: Will you obey me? They said: Yes. He said: Look, when I die, you must burn me until I become coal. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: By Allah! They did exactly that. Then he had indicated with his hand: Then crush me with a mortar and pestle. They did exactly that, then scatter me (i.e., my ashes) in the sea on a windy day, perhaps I may hide from Allah Almighty. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: By Allah! They did exactly that, but suddenly Allah Almighty took hold of him and asked: O son of Adam! What made you do this action? He said: O my Lord! It was Your fear. So because of this, Allah Almighty forgave his shortcomings.

It is narrated from Abu Qatadah and Abu Dahma that they used to travel frequently towards the House of Allah.
