It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Companions said: O Messenger of Allah! Such thoughts come to us that we would prefer to become charcoal rather than talk about them. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: All praise is due to Allah, who has given this Satan only the power to cast whispers. The words of one narrator are: All praise is due to Allah, who has turned the matter of Satan towards whispering.

Such thoughts come to me that, compared to speaking about them, I would prefer to fall from the sky. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Allah is the Greatest, all praise is for Allah, Who has turned the plot of this devil towards mere whispering.
