الإخلاص فى النية والعملSincerity in Intention and Action
بَابُ إِحْسانِ النِّيَّةِ عَلَى الْخَيْرِ وَمُضَاعَفَةِ الْآخِرِ بسبب ذلِكَ وَمَا جَاءَ فِي الْعَزْمِ وَالْهَمْ
Chapter on good intention for good deeds and the multiplication of reward because of that, and what has been narrated regarding resolve and determination
Hadith 8898
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَحْسَنَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِسْلَامَهُ فَكُلُّ حَسَنَةٍ يَعْمَلُهَا تُكْتَبُ بِعَشْرِ أَمْثَالِهَا إِلَى سَبْعِ مِائَةِ ضِعْفٍ وَكُلُّ سَيِّئَةٍ يَعْمَلُهَا تُكْتَبُ لَهُ بِمِثْلِهَا حَتَّى يَلْقَى اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Huraira, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: When any one of you perfects his Islam, then every good deed he does is written for him as ten to seven hundred times (its reward), and every bad deed he does is written as only one like it. (This continues) until he meets Allah, the Exalted.
Hadith 8899
عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِيمَا رَوَى عَنْ رَبِّهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى رَحِيمٌ مَنْ هَمَّ بِحَسَنَةٍ فَلَمْ يَعْمَلْهَا كُتِبَتْ لَهُ حَسَنَةٌ فَإِنْ عَمِلَهَا كُتِبَتْ لَهُ عَشْرَةٌ إِلَى سَبْعِ مِائَةٍ إِلَى أَضْعَافٍ كَثِيرَةٍ وَمَنْ هَمَّ بِسَيِّئَةٍ فَلَمْ يَعْمَلْهَا كُتِبَتْ لَهُ حَسَنَةٌ فَإِنْ عَمِلَهَا كُتِبَتْ لَهُ وَاحِدَةٌ أَوْ يَمْحُوهَا اللَّهُ وَلَا يَهْلِكُ عَلَى اللَّهِ تَعَالَى إِلَّا هَالِكٌ
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) narrated from his Lord: Indeed, your Lord is most merciful. Whoever intends to do a good deed but does not act upon it, one good deed is written for him. And if he acts upon it, it is written for him as ten to seven hundred times, or even more multiplied. But if someone intends to do an evil deed and does not act upon it, then one good deed is written for him because of that. And if he acts upon it, then one evil deed is written for him, or Allah Almighty forgives it as well. Now, only he will be destroyed in the sight of Allah Almighty who is destined to be destroyed.
Hadith 8900
(وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ) يَرْوِيهِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَرْوِيهِ عَنْ رَبِّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَتَبَ الْحَسَنَاتِ وَالسَّيِّئَاتِ فَمَنْ هَمَّ بِحَسَنَةٍ فَلَمْ يَعْمَلْهَا كَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَهُ عِنْدَهُ حَسَنَةً كَامِلَةً وَإِنْ عَمِلَهَا كَتَبَهَا اللَّهُ عَشْرًا إِلَى سَبْعِ مِائَةٍ إِلَى أَضْعَافٍ كَثِيرَةٍ أَوْ إِلَى مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يُضَاعِفَ وَمَنْ هَمَّ بِسَيِّئَةٍ فَلَمْ يَعْمَلْهَا كَتَبَهَا اللَّهُ لَهُ عِنْدَهُ حَسَنَةً كَامِلَةً فَإِنْ عَمِلَهَا كَتَبَهَا اللَّهُ سَيِّئَةً وَاحِدَةً
(Second chain) The Noble Prophet, narrating from Allah Almighty, says: Indeed, Allah Almighty has written down good deeds and bad deeds. So, if a person intends to do a good deed but does not actually do it, Allah Almighty records it with Himself as a complete good deed. And if he also acts upon it, then Allah Almighty writes it as ten to seven hundred times, or even more, or as much as Allah Almighty wills, increasing it. But if someone intends to do a bad deed but does not act upon it, Allah Almighty writes it as a complete good deed. And if he actually does it, then He writes it as only one bad deed.
Hadith 8901
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَحْوَهُ
A similar hadith of the Prophet is also narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him.
