Hadith 8828
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: By the ten nights is meant the first ten nights of the month of Eid al-Adha, by the odd (witr) is meant the day of Arafat, and by the even (shaf‘) is meant the day of sacrifice.
Hadith 8829
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) was asked about shaf‘ and witr, so he (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: By this is meant prayer; some prayers are even and some prayers are odd.
