بَابُ: «يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ إِذَا طَلَّقْتُمُ النِّسَاء »
Chapter: "O Prophet, when you divorce women"
Hadith 8798
عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ خَرَجْتُ مَعَ عَمِّي فِي غَزَاةٍ فَسَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ أُبَيِّ ابْنِ سَلُولَ يَقُولُ لِأَصْحَابِهِ لَا تُنْفِقُوا عَلَى مَنْ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ وَلَئِنْ رَجَعْنَا إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ لَيُخْرِجَنَّ الْأَعَزُّ مِنْهَا الْأَذَلَّ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِعَمِّي فَذَكَرَهُ عَمِّي لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيَّ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَحَدَّثْتُهُ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أُبَيِّ ابْنِ سَلُولَ وَأَصْحَابِهِ فَحَلَفُوا مَا قَالُوا فَكَذَّبَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَصَدَّقَهُ فَأَصَابَنِي هَمٌّ لَمْ يُصِبْنِي مِثْلُهُ قَطُّ وَجَلَسْتُ فِي الْبَيْتِ فَقَالَ عَمِّي مَا أَرَدْتَ إِلَى أَنْ كَذَّبَكَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَمَقَتَكَ قَالَ حَتَّى أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِذَا جَاءَكَ الْمُنَافِقُونَ [سورة المنافقون: ١] قَالَ فَبَعَثَ إِلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَرَأَهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَدْ صَدَّقَكَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zayd bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I went out with my uncle in a battle. I heard Abdullah bin Ubayy bin Salul saying to his companions: "Do not spend on the companions of this Messenger, and if we return to Madinah, the honorable ones will surely expel the lowly ones from it." I informed my uncle of this, and my uncle mentioned it to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent for me, and when I came to him, I told him what had been said. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent for Abdullah bin Ubayy bin Salul and his companions, so they came, but they swore that they had not said this. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) considered me a liar and Abdullah bin Ubayy truthful. This caused me great distress, more than I had ever experienced before. So I sat at home. My uncle said: "What made you say such a thing? Now the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has considered you a liar and is displeased with you." Until Allah Almighty revealed these verses: {إِذَا جَاءَ کَ الْمُنَافِقُونَ … } … When the hypocrites come to you, … . Now the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent for me, recited these verses to me, and said: "Indeed, Allah Almighty has declared you truthful."
Hadith 8799
(وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ) يَقُولُ خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَفَرٍ فَأَصَابَ النَّاسَ شِدَّةٌ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أُبَيٍّ لِأَصْحَابِهِ لَا تُنْفِقُوا عَلَى مَنْ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ حَتَّى يَنْفَضُّوا مِنْ حَوْلِهِ وَقَالَ لَئِنْ رَجَعْنَا إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ لَيُخْرِجَنَّ الْأَعَزُّ مِنْهَا الْأَذَلَّ فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ بِذَلِكَ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أُبَيٍّ فَسَأَلَهُ فَاجْتَهَدَ يَمِينَهُ مَا فَعَلَ فَقَالُوا كَذَّبَ زَيْدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ فَوَقَعَ فِي نَفْسِي مِمَّا قَالُوا حَتَّى أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ تَصْدِيقِي فِي إِذَا جَاءَكَ الْمُنَافِقُونَ [سورة المنافقون: ١] قَالَ وَدَعَاهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِيَسْتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ فَلَوَّوْا رُءُوسَهُمْ وَقَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى كَأَنَّهُمْ خُشُبٌ مُسَنَّدَةٌ [سورة المنافقون: ٤] قَالَ كَانُوا رِجَالًا أَجْمَلَ شَيْءٍ
(Second chain) It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: We were on a journey with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the people were afflicted with hardship and severity. Abdullah bin Ubayy said to his companions: Do not spend on the people gathered around the Messenger of Allah until they disperse. Now, if we return to Madinah, the honorable ones will surely expel these lowly ones. I came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and informed him of this. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called Abdullah bin Ubayy and asked him, and he swore emphatically that he had not said such a thing. People began to say: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has declared Zaid to be a liar. This caused great distress in my heart, until Allah Almighty revealed these verses to confirm me: {إِذَا جَاءَ کَ الْمُنَافِقُونَ … } … When the hypocrites come to you, … Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called them so that he might seek forgiveness for them, but they turned their heads away. The meaning of Allah Almighty’s statement: {کَأَ نَّہُمْ خُشُبٌ مُسَنَّدَۃٌ} … As if they were propped-up pieces of wood is that they were very handsome men.
Hadith 8800
(وَعَنْهُ أَيْضًا) قَالَ كُنْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي غَزْوَةٍ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أُبَيٍّ لَئِنْ رَجَعْنَا إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ لَيُخْرِجَنَّ الْأَعَزُّ مِنْهَا الْأَذَلَّ قَالَ فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ قَالَ فَحَلَفَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أُبَيٍّ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ شَيْءٌ مِنْ ذَلِكَ قَالَ فَلَامَنِي قَوْمِي وَقَالُوا مَا أَرَدْتَ إِلَى هَذَا قَالَ فَانْطَلَقْتُ فَنِمْتُ كَئِيبًا أَوْ حَزِينًا قَالَ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيَّ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَوْ أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَدْ أَنْزَلَ عُذْرَكَ وَصَدَّقَكَ قَالَ فَنَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ هُمُ الَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ لَا تُنْفِقُوا عَلَى مَنْ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ حَتَّى يَنْفَضُّوا حَتَّى بَلَغَ لَئِنْ رَجَعْنَا إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ لَيُخْرِجَنَّ الْأَعَزُّ مِنْهَا الْأَذَلَّ [سورة المنافقون: ٧-٨]
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I was in a battle, Abdullah bin Ubayy bin Salul said: If we return to Madinah, the honorable ones will surely, surely expel the lowly ones from Madinah. I came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and informed him of this. But Abdullah bin Ubayy swore that he had not said any such thing. My people reproached me and said: What benefit did you get? So I, immersed in grief and sorrow, fell asleep. Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a message to me and said: Allah Almighty has revealed your excuse and declared you truthful. Thus, this verse was revealed: {ہُمْ الَّذِینَ یَقُولُوْنَ لَا تُنْفِقُوْا عَلٰی مَنْ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللّٰہِ حَتّٰی یَنْفَضُّوْا … … لَئِنْ رَجَعْنَا إِلَی الْمَدِینَۃِ لَیُخْرِجَنَّ الْأَ عَزُّ مِنْہَا الْأَ ذَلَّ}.
