Fath al-Rabbani

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Fateelah bint Abdul-Uzza brought gifts such as lizard, cheese, and ghee to her daughter, Sayyidah Asma bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with them both), while Fateelah was a polytheist woman. Therefore, Sayyidah Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) refused to accept her gifts and also prevented her from entering the house. Then, when Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Allah the Exalted revealed this verse: {لَا یَنْہٰیکُمُ اللّٰہُ عَنِ الَّذِیْنَ لَمْ یُقَاتِلُوْکُمْ فِی الدِّیْنِ وَلَمْ یُخْرِجُوْکُمْ مِّنْ دِیَارِکُمْ اَنْ تَبَرُّوْہُمْ وَتُقْسِطُوْٓا اِلَیْہِمْ اِنَّ اللّٰہَ یُحِبُّ الْمُقْسِطِیْنَ۔} … Allah does not forbid you from those who do not fight you because of religion and do not expel you from your homes—from being righteous toward them and acting justly toward them. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered Sayyidah Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) to accept her gift and allow her to enter her house.
