تفسير من سورة محمد إلى سورة التحريمInterpretation from Surah Muhammad to Surah At-Tahrim
بَابُ: «مَا قَطَعْتُمْ مِنْ لِينَة »
Chapter: "Whatever you have cut down of [their] palm trees"
Hadith 8787
((وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ) بِنَحْوِهِ) وَفِيهِ قَالَ فَنَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ فِي الْمُجَادَلَةِ وَيَحْلِفُونَ عَلَى الْكَذِبِ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ [سورة المجادلة: ١٤] وَالْآيَةُ الْأُخْرَى
(Second chain of narration) In this it is stated: Then this verse of Surah Al-Mujadila was revealed: {اَلَمْ تَرَ اِلَی الَّذِیْنَ تَوَلَّوْا قَوْمًا غَضِبَ اللّٰہُ عَلَیْہِمْ مَا ہُمْ مِّنْکُمْ وَلَا مِنْہُمْ وَیَحْلِفُوْنَ عَلَی الْکَذِبِ وَہُمْ یَعْلَمُوْنَ۔} … Have you not seen those who have taken as friends a people upon whom Allah is angry? They are neither of you nor of them, and they swear to falsehood while they know.
عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي ظِلِّ حُجْرَةٍ مِنْ حُجَرِهِ وَعِنْدَهُ نَفَرٌ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ قَدْ كَادَ يَقْلِصُ عَنْهُمُ الظِّلُّ قَالَ فَقَالَ إِنَّهُ سَيَأْتِيكُمْ إِنْسَانٌ يَنْظُرُ إِلَيْكُمْ بِعَيْنَيْ شَيْطَانٍ فَإِذَا أَتَاكُمْ فَلَا تُكَلِّمُوهُ قَالَ فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ أَزْرَقُ فَدَعَاهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَكَلَّمَهُ قَالَ عَلَامَ تَشْتُمُنِي أَنْتَ وَفُلَانٌ وَفُلَانٌ نَفَرٌ دَعَاهُمْ بِأَسْمَائِهِمْ قَالَ فَذَهَبَ الرَّجُلُ فَدَعَاهُمْ فَحَلَفُوا بِاللَّهِ وَاعْتَذَرُوا إِلَيْهِ قَالَ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَحْلِفُونَ لَهُ كَمَا يَحْلِفُونَ لَكُمْ وَيَحْسَبُونَ [سورة المجادلة: ١٨] الْآيَةَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting in the shade of a room, and some Muslims were also sitting with him. Now the shade was shrinking. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Soon a man will come to you who will look at you with the eyes of Satan. When he comes to you, do not speak to him. Meanwhile, a man with blue eyes came. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called him and spoke to him and said: Why do you and such-and-such people speak ill of me? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also mentioned the names of a few individuals. That man went and brought all of them. Then they all swore by Allah and apologized to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Meanwhile, Allah the Exalted revealed this verse: {یَوْمَیَبْعَثُہُمُ اللّٰہُ جَمِیْعًا فَیَحْلِفُوْنَ لَہ کَمَا یَحْلِفُوْنَ لَکُمْ وَیَحْسَبُوْنَ اَنَّہُمْ عَلٰی شَیْء ٍ اَلَآ اِنَّہُمْ ہُمُ الْکٰذِبُوْنَ۔} … The Day Allah will raise them all up, they will swear to Him as they swear to you, and they will think that they are on something (firm). Behold! Surely, they are the real liars.
Hadith 8787
