It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a Jew passed by the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was sitting. The Jew said: "O Abu al-Qasim! What do you say about this: when Allah, the Exalted, will lift the sky upon this index finger, and the earth upon this finger, and the water upon this finger, and the mountains upon this finger, and all the rest of creation upon this finger?" Along with this, the Jew pointed towards his fingers. Then Allah, the Exalted, revealed this verse: {وَمَاقَدَرُوااللّٰہَحَقَّقَدْرِہِ} … And they did not appraise Allah with true appraisal as is due to Him.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man from the People of the Book came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: “O Abu al-Qasim! Has it reached you that Allah, the Exalted, will carry the creations on one finger, the heavens on one finger, the earths on one finger, the trees on one finger, and the moist soil on one finger?” The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) laughed so much at his words that his blessed molar teeth became visible. Then Allah, the Exalted, revealed this verse: {وَمَاقَدَرُوااللّٰہَحَقَّقَدْرِہِ} … And they did not appraise Allah with true appraisal as is due to Him.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) one day recited this verse on the pulpit: {وَمَاقَدَرُوْااللّٰہَحَقَّقَدْرِہِوَالْأَرْضُجَمِیعًاقَبْضَتُہُیَوْمَالْقِیَامَۃِوَالسَّمٰوَاتُمَطْوِیَّاتٌبِیَمِینِہِسُبْحَانَہُوَتَعَالٰیعَمَّایُشْرِکُونَ} … "And they did not appraise Allah with true appraisal as is His due, while the whole earth will be in His grip on the Day of Resurrection, and the heavens will be rolled up in His right hand. Exalted is He and high above what they associate with Him." At the same time, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began moving his hand forward and backward and said: "The Lord is declaring His own greatness: I am the Compeller, I am the Supreme, I am the King, I am the Dominant, I am the Generous." While he was saying this, the pulpit trembled so much that we feared he might fall from the pulpit.
