بَابُ: «وَتَأْتُونَ فِي نَادِيكُمُ الْمُنْكَرَ»
Chapter: "And you commit in your gatherings [every] evil"
Hadith 8697
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِعَمِّهِ قُلْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ أَشْهَدُ لَكَ بِهَا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ قَالَ لَوْلَا أَنْ تُعَيِّرَنِي قُرَيْشٌ يَقُولُونَ إِنَّمَا حَمَلَهُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ الْجَزَعُ لَأَقْرَرْتُ بِهَا عَيْنَكَ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ {إِنَّكَ لَا تَهْدِي مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ} [القصص: 56] الْآيَةَ
Syedna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said to his uncle: Say LAA ILAAHA ILLALLAH, and I will testify in your favor on the Day of Resurrection because of it. But he said: If the Quraysh would not say, out of reproach, that weakness made Abu Talib utter this word, then I would have said this word and cooled your eyes. Then Allah the Exalted revealed: {اِنَّکَ لَا تَہْدِیْ مَنْ اَحْبَبْتَ وَلٰکِنَّ اللّٰہَ یَہْدِیْ مَنْ یَّشَائُ وَہُوَ اَعْلَمُ بِالْمُہْتَدِیْنَ۔} … Surely, you do not guide whom you love, but Allah guides whom He wills, and He knows best those who are guided.
