Syedna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said to his uncle: Say LAA ILAAHA ILLALLAH, and I will testify in your favor on the Day of Resurrection because of it. But he said: If the Quraysh would not say, out of reproach, that weakness made Abu Talib utter this word, then I would have said this word and cooled your eyes. Then Allah the Exalted revealed: {اِنَّکَلَاتَہْدِیْمَنْاَحْبَبْتَوَلٰکِنَّاللّٰہَیَہْدِیْمَنْیَّشَائُوَہُوَاَعْلَمُبِالْمُہْتَدِیْنَ۔} … Surely, you do not guide whom you love, but Allah guides whom He wills, and He knows best those who are guided.
