بَابُ: «إِنَّكَ لَا تَهْدِي مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ »
Chapter: "Indeed, you do not guide whom you love"
Hadith 8693
عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ لَمَّا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ {وَأَنْذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ الْأَقْرَبِينَ} [الشعراء: 214] قَالَ أَتَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ الصَّفَا فَصَعِدَ عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ نَادَى يَا صَبَاحَاهْ فَاجْتَمَعَ النَّاسُ إِلَيْهِ بَيْنَ رَجُلٍ يَجِيءُ وَبَيْنَ رَجُلٍ يَبْعَثُ رَسُولَهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَا بَنِي عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ يَا بَنِي فِهْرٍ يَا بَنِي لُؤَيٍّ أَرَأَيْتُمْ لَوْ أَخْبَرْتُكُمْ أَنَّ خَيْلًا بِسَفْحِ هَذَا الْجَبَلِ تُرِيدُ أَنْ تُغِيرَ عَلَيْكُمْ صَدَّقْتُمُونِي قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ فَإِنِّي نَذِيرٌ لَكُمْ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ عَذَابٍ شَدِيدٍ فَقَالَ أَبُو لَهَبٍ تَبًّا لَكَ سَائِرَ الْيَوْمِ أَمَا دَعَوْتَنَا إِلَّا لِهَذَا فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ {تَبَّتْ يَدَا أَبِي لَهَبٍ وَتَبَّ} [المسد: 1]
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, he says: When Allah Almighty revealed this verse: {وَأَ نْذِرْ عَشِیْرَتَکَ الْأَ قْرَبِیْنَ} … "And warn your closest relatives." So the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, came to the hill of Safa and, having climbed it, called out: "Ya Sabahah!" Then people gathered around him, some came themselves and some sent their messengers. Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "O Banu Abdul Muttalib! O Banu Fihr! O Banu Lu'ayy! What do you think, if I were to inform you that there is an army at the foot of this mountain intending to launch a sudden attack upon you, would you believe me?" They said: "Yes." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Then I am a warner to you before a severe punishment." Upon hearing this, Abu Lahab said: "May you perish all day long! Did you call us together for this purpose only?" At this, Allah Almighty revealed this verse: {تَبَّتْ یَدَا اَبِیْ لَھَبٍ وَتَبَّ} … "Perish the two hands of Abu Lahab, and he himself perished."
Hadith 8694
عَنْ قَبِيصَةَ بْنِ مُخَارِقٍ وَزُهَيْرِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَا لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ {وَأَنْذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ الْأَقْرَبِينَ} [الشعراء: 214] صَعِدَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَقْمَةً مِنْ جَبَلٍ عَلَى أَعْلَاهَا حَجَرٌ (وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ انْطَلَقَ إِلَى رَضْمَةٍ مِنْ جَبَلٍ فَعَلَا أَعْلَاهَا) فَجَعَلَ يُنَادِي يَا بَنِي عَبْدِ مَنَافٍ إِنَّمَا أَنَا نَذِيرٌ إِنَّمَا مَثَلِي وَمَثَلُكُمْ كَرَجُلٍ رَأَى الْعَدُوَّ فَذَهَبَ يَرْبَأُ أَهْلَهُ فَخَشِيَ أَنْ يَسْبِقُوهُ فَجَعَلَ يُنَادِي وَيَهْتِفُ يَا صَبَاحَاهْ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Qabeesah bin Mukhariq and Sayyiduna Zuhair bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them) that when this verse was revealed: {وَأَ نْذِرْ عَشِیْرَتَکَ الْأَ قْرَبِیْنَ} … "And warn your closest relatives." Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood on the highest rock of the mountain and began to call out: "O Banu Abd Manaf! Indeed, I am a warner. Surely, my example and yours is like that of a man who sees the enemy and, in order to protect his family, he becomes afraid. But when he sees that the enemy will reach his family before he does, he starts calling out from where he is and shouts: YA SABAAHAH!"
Hadith 8695
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ {وَأَنْذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ الْأَقْرَبِينَ} [الشعراء: 214] دَعَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قُرَيْشًا فَعَمَّ وَخَصَّ (وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ جَعَلَ يَدْعُو بُطُونَ قُرَيْشٍ بَطْنًا بَطْنًا) فَقَالَ يَا مَعْشَرَ قُرَيْشٍ أَنْقِذُوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ مِنْ النَّارِ يَا مَعْشَرَ بَنِي كَعْبِ بْنِ لُؤَيٍّ أَنْقِذُوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ مِنْ النَّارِ يَا مَعْشَرَ بَنِي عَبْدِ مَنَافٍ أَنْقِذُوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ مِنْ النَّارِ يَا مَعْشَرَ بَنِي هَاشِمٍ أَنْقِذُوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ مِنْ النَّارِ يَا بَنِي عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ أَنْقِذُوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ مِنْ النَّارِ يَا فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتَ مُحَمَّدٍ أَنْقِذِي نَفْسَكِ مِنْ النَّارِ فَإِنِّي وَاللَّهِ مَا أَمْلِكُ لَكُمْ مِنْ اللَّهِ شَيْئًا إِلَّا أَنَّ لَكُمْ رَحِمًا سَأَبُلُّهَا بِبَلَالِهَا
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that when this verse was revealed: {وَأَ نْذِرْ عَشِیْرَتَکَ الْأَ قْرَبِیْنَ} … "And warn your closest relatives," the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, made a general call to the Quraysh and then a specific call. In one narration, it is mentioned: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, began to call each tribe of the Quraysh and said: "O group of Quraysh! Save yourselves from the Fire. O Banu Hashim! Save yourselves from the Fire. O Banu Abdul Muttalib! Save yourselves from the Fire. O Fatimah bint Muhammad! Save yourself from the Fire. By Allah! I have no power to avail you anything before Allah. Yes, there is a relationship between us, and I will maintain its ties."
Hadith 8696
عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ {وَأَنْذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ الْأَقْرَبِينَ} [الشعراء: 214] قَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ يَا فَاطِمَةُ يَا بِنْتَ مُحَمَّدٍ يَا صَفِيَّةُ بِنْتَ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ يَا بَنِي عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ لَا أَمْلِكُ لَكُمْ مِنْ اللَّهِ شَيْئًا سَلُونِي مِنْ مَالِي مَا شِئْتُمْ
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when this verse was revealed: {وَأَ نْذِرْ عَشِیْرَتَکَ الْأَ قْرَبِیْنَ} … And warn your closest relatives. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up and said: O Fatimah! O daughter of Muhammad! O Safiyyah, daughter of Abdul Muttalib! O Banu Abdul Muttalib! I do not possess anything for you before Allah, but ask me for whatever you want from my wealth.
