It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a Muslim man sought permission from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as to whether he could marry a woman named Umm Mahzool. This woman was an adulteress and she had stipulated that he would spend on her. When this man sought permission to marry this woman or mentioned her before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: {الزَّانِیَۃُلَایَنْکِحُہَاإِلَّازَانٍأَوْمُشْرِکٌ} … Only an adulterer or a polytheist man can marry an adulteress woman. Arim says: I asked Mu’tamir about Hadrami, he said: He was a storyteller and I had seen him.
