بَابُ: «أَذِنَ لِلَّذِينَ يُقَاتَلُونَ بِأَنَّهُمْ ظُلِمُوا »
Chapter: "Permission [to fight] has been given to those who are being fought because they were wronged"
Hadith 8681
عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ لَمَّا خَرَجَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ مَكَّةَ قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَخْرَجُوا نَبِيَّهُمْ إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ لَيَهْلِكُنَّ فَنَزَلَتْ أُذِنَ لِلَّذِينَ يُقَاتَلُونَ بِأَنَّهُمْ ظُلِمُوا وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلَى نَصْرِهِمْ لَقَدِيرٌ [سورة الحج: ٣٩] قَالَ فَعُرِفَ أَنَّهُ سَيَكُونُ قِتَالٌ قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ هِيَ أَوَّلُ آيَةٍ نَزَلَتْ فِي الْقِتَالِ
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, that when the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, left Makkah for migration, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return. These people have expelled their Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him; surely, they will be destroyed." Then this verse was revealed: {أُذِنَ لِلَّذِینَ یُقَاتَلُوْنَ بِأَ نَّہُمْ ظُلِمُوْا وَإِنَّ اللّٰہَ عَلٰی نَصْرِہِمْ لَقَدِیرٌ} … "Permission [to fight] has been given to those against whom war is being waged, because they have been wronged, and Allah is certainly able to help them." At that time, they realized that there would soon be fighting. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, said: This is the first verse regarding the permission to fight that was revealed.
