It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The sun sets beneath the Throne, then it is granted permission, then it returns. When that night comes in which it must rise from the west in the morning, it will not be granted permission to return. When morning comes, it will be said to the sun: Rise from where you came (i.e., from the west). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: {ہَلْیَنْظُرُوْنَاِلَّآاَنْتَاْتِیَہُمُالْمَلٰیِکَۃُاَوْیَاْتِیَرَبُّکَاَوْیَاْتِیَبَعْضُاٰیٰتِرَبِّکَیَوْمَیَاْتِیْبَعْضُاٰیٰتِرَبِّکَلَایَنْفَعُنَفْسًااِیْمَانُہَالَمْتَکُنْاٰمَنَتْمِنْقَبْلُاَوْکَسَبَتْفِیْٓاِیْمَانِہَاخَیْرًاقُلِانْتَظِرُوْٓااِنَّامُنْتَظِرُوْنَ۔} … What are they waiting for except that the angels should come to them, or your Lord should come, or some sign of your Lord should come? On the day when some sign of your Lord comes, no soul will benefit from its faith if it had not believed before, or had not earned some good through its faith. Say: Wait, indeed we (too) are waiting.
