بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي فَضْلِهَا
Chapter: "What has been mentioned about its virtue"
Hadith 8575
عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ أُنْزِلَتْ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُورَةُ الْمَائِدَةِ وَهُوَ رَاكِبٌ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ فَلَمْ تَسْتَطِعْ أَنْ تَحْمِلَهُ فَنَزَلَ عَنْهَا
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when Surah Al-Ma'idah was revealed to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he was mounted on his ride. The ride did not have enough strength to bear him in that state, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) dismounted from it.
Hadith 8576
عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ إِنِّي لَآخِذَةٌ بِزِمَامِ الْعَضْبَاءِ نَاقَةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذْ أُنْزِلَتْ عَلَيْهِ الْمَائِدَةُ كُلُّهَا فَكَادَتْ مِنْ ثِقَلِهَا تَدُقُّ بِعَضُدِ النَّاقَةِ
It is narrated from Sayyida Asma bint Yazid (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: I was holding the reins of the Prophet Muhammad’s (peace and blessings be upon him) she-camel, ‘Adhba’, when Surah Al-Ma’idah was revealed to him. Due to the weight of the revelation, it was as if the foreleg of the she-camel was about to break.
Hadith 8577
عَنْ أَبِي الزَّاهِرِيَّةِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا فَقَالَتْ هَلْ تَقْرَأُ سُورَةَ الْمَائِدَةِ قَالَ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَتْ فَإِنَّهَا آخِرُ سُورَةٍ نَزَلَتْ فَمَا وَجَدْتُمْ فِيهَا مِنْ حَلَالٍ فَاسْتَحِلُّوهُ وَمَا وَجَدْتُمْ فِيهَا مِنْ حَرَامٍ فَحَرِّمُوهُ وَسَأَلْتُهَا عَنْ خُلُقِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَتْ الْقُرْآنُ
It is narrated from Hubair bin Nafeer, he says: I went to Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she asked me: Do you recite Surah Al-Ma'idah? I said: Yes. She said: This is the last surah that was revealed, so whatever you find lawful in it, consider it lawful, and whatever you find unlawful in it, consider it unlawful. Then when I asked the lady about the character of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), she said: The character of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was the Qur'an.
