Narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that when these verses were revealed {لَنْتَنَالُواالْبِرَّحَتّٰیتُنْفِقُوامِمَّاتُحِبُّوْنَ} … You will never attain righteousness until you spend from that which you love; and {مَنْذَاالَّذِییُقْرِضُاللّٰہَقَرْضًاحَسَنًا} … Who is it that will lend to Allah a goodly loan. Then Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! My garden at such-and-such place (is the most beloved to me), if I had the strength, I would give it in charity secretly, so that no one would find out. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Distribute it among your needy relatives.
