بَابُ: «لَنْ تَنالُوا الْبِرَّ حَتَّى تُنْفِقُوا مِمَّا تُحِبُّونَ »
Chapter: "Never will you attain righteousness until you spend from that which you love"
Hadith 8540
عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ لَنْ تَنَالُوا الْبِرَّ حَتَّى تُنْفِقُوا مِمَّا تُحِبُّونَ [سورة آل عمران: ٩٢] وَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يُقْرِضُ اللَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا [سورة البقرة: ٢٤٥] قَالَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَحَائِطِي الَّذِي كَانَ بِمَكَانِ كَذَا وَكَذَا وَاللَّهِ لَوِ اسْتَطَعْتُ أَنْ أُسِرَّهَا لَمْ أُعْلِنْهَا قَالَ اجْعَلْهُ فِي فُقَرَاءِ أَهْلِكَ
Narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that when these verses were revealed {لَنْ تَنَالُوا الْبِرَّ حَتّٰی تُنْفِقُوا مِمَّا تُحِبُّوْنَ} … You will never attain righteousness until you spend from that which you love; and {مَنْ ذَا الَّذِییُقْرِضُ اللّٰہَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا} … Who is it that will lend to Allah a goodly loan. Then Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! My garden at such-and-such place (is the most beloved to me), if I had the strength, I would give it in charity secretly, so that no one would find out. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Distribute it among your needy relatives.
