Narrated by Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: On the Day of Resurrection, a disbeliever will be brought and it will be said to him: Tell me, if you were given gold equal to the earth, would you offer it as ransom to escape this punishment? He will say: Yes, O my Lord! Then Allah Almighty will say: (In the world) a demand easier than this was made from you (but you did not fulfill it). This is the meaning of Allah Almighty’s statement: {إِنَّالَّذِینَکَفَرُوْاوَمَاتُوْاوَہُمْکُفَّارٌفَلَنْیُقْبَلَمِنْأَحَدِہِمْمِلْئُالْأَرْضِذَہَبًاوَلَوِافْتَدٰیبِہِ} … Surely those who died in a state of disbelief, even if they were to offer the earth full of gold as ransom, it would not be accepted from them.
