Hadith 8538
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man from among the Ansar became an apostate and joined the polytheists. Regarding him, Allah Almighty revealed this verse {کَیْفَ یَہْدِی اللّٰہُ قَوْمًا کَفَرُوْا بَعْدَ اِیْمَانِہِمْ وَشَہِدُوْٓا اَنَّ الرَّسُوْلَ حَقٌّ وَّجَاءَھُمُ الْبَیِّنٰتُ وَاللّٰہُ لَایَہْدِی الْقَوْمَ الظّٰلِمِیْنَ۔} … How shall Allah guide those who disbelieved after their belief and (after) they bore witness that the Messenger is true and clear proofs had come to them? And Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people. (Surah Aal-e-Imran: 86). When his people conveyed this verse to him, he repented and returned, and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) accepted this from him and set him free.
