بَابُ مَا يَسْتَحِبُّ أَنْ يَقُولَهُ الْقَارِئُ عِنْدَ ذِكْرِ آيَةِ عَذَابٍ أَوْ رَحْمَةٍ وَعِنْدَ خَتْمِ بَعْضِ السُّوَرِ
Chapter on What Is Recommended for the Reciter to Say When Mentioning Verses of Punishment or Mercy and at the End of Some Surahs
Hadith 8384
عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ بْنِ الْيَمَانِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا مَرَّ بِآيَةِ رَحْمَةٍ سَأَلَ وَإِذَا مَرَّ بِآيَةٍ فِيهَا عَذَابٌ تَعَوَّذَ وَإِذَا مَرَّ بِآيَةٍ فِيهَا تَنْزِيهٌ لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ سَبَّحَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Hudhayfah bin Yaman (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would recite a verse mentioning mercy, he would ask Allah for it; when he would pass by a verse mentioning punishment, he would seek refuge; and when he would pass by a verse in which Allah’s sanctity was declared, he would glorify Him.
Hadith 8385
عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ سَمِعَهُ مِنْ شَيْخٍ فَقَالَ مَرَّةً سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَادِيَةِ أَعْرَابِيٍّ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ قَرَأَ وَالْمُرْسَلَاتِ عُرْفًا فَبَلَغَ فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيثٍ بَعْدَهُ يُؤْمِنُونَ فَلْيَقُلْ آمَنَّا بِاللَّهِ وَمَنْ قَرَأَ وَالتِّينِ وَالزَّيْتُونِ فَلْيَقُلْ بَلَى وَأَنَا عَلَى ذَلِكَ مِنَ الشَّاهِدِينَ وَمَنْ قَرَأَ أَلَيْسَ ذَلِكَ بِقَادِرٍ عَلَى أَنْ يُحْيِيَ الْمَوْتَى فَلْيَقُلْ بَلَى قَالَ إِسْمَاعِيلُ فَذَهَبْتُ أَنْظُرُ هَلْ حَفِظَ وَكَانَ أَعْرَابِيًّا فَقَالَ يَا ابْنَ أَخِي أَظَنَنْتَ أَنِّي لَمْ أَحْفَظْهُ لَقَدْ حَجَجْتُ سِتِّينَ حَجَّةً مَا مِنْهَا سَنَةٌ إِلَّا أَعْرِفُ الْبَعِيرَ الَّذِي حَجَجْتُ عَلَيْهِ
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever recites Surah Al-Mursalat and when he reaches this verse {فَبِأَ یِّ حَدِیثٍ بَعْدَہُ یُؤْمِنُونَ}, he should say: آمَنَّا بِاللّٰہِ (We believe in Allah), and whoever recites Surah At-Tin, then at the end he should say: بَلٰی وَأَ نَا عَلٰی ذَلِکَ مِنْ الشَّاہِدِینَ (Yes, and I am among the witnesses to that), and whoever, when he recites this verse {أَ لَیْسَ ذٰلِکَ بِقَادِرٍ عَلَی أَ نْ یُحْیِیَ الْمَوْتٰی}, he should say: بَلٰی (Yes). The narrator Ismail said: I tried to find out whether this Bedouin had memorized it well or not, so he replied: Nephew! What do you think, that I have not memorized it? I have performed sixty Hajj and I can recognize every camel of each year on which I performed Hajj.
